To be fair she hasn't got a clue about football - classic media personality, started on the BBC as a travel reporter, then someone to laugh at Danny Baker's jokes. She is from Newcastle and vaguely supports them and then she's a presenter of a football show. The bloke ringing up was an idiot but I hate when you get so-called personalities popping up with no other expertise than she's willing to do any show. They'll be having Carol Smilie on next.
This

There's been a procession of them, I'd be embarrassed if I was Baker

Heard it this morning thought she was a bit over the top personally. I don’t think he intended to patronise her. Some people, in particular the older generation use such phrases and it’s mostly meant in a nice way.

I don’t see what’s so offensive about calling her love? Should he call her mate?
Especially since she is from the north east and people of the same and opposite sex can often be referred to as "love" or "darling"

No but it’s just a word people use. People always call other people mate when on the phone or whatever. It’s a phrase as is love, don’t see what’s so offensive. But maybe Im not easily offended like some.
Sounds like she's offended you pretty easily love. Whole situation doesn't offend me at all mate

What you talking about? How’s it offended me? I just said I don’t see what’s so offensive, think you seem to be getting wound up for some reason.

There’s been many a time when I’ve been served in a shop off an older woman who has called me love or son or similar. Didn’t even cross me mind to think of it as offensive in fact I thought it was quite nice.

Unrequited?

Can't be arsed to listen to it tbh

Can’t be arsed to listen to it but happy to come on here and question people’s thoughts on it...strange

Sounded like he was deliberately doing it for a reaction. (I say this as he sounded too young to use these phrases in real life). Was funny (and cringey) listening to Alan Brazil not having a clue and floundering around as usual.
