Joe Root is a way off being the best player in the world, but I've never seen a player just look 'in' as soon as he gets the to the crease. Its remarkable.

The only time I have seen him out of form was the Ashes in 2013/14.

These 2 play properly and it should be easy chase

PS. test team should be Root 3, Bairstow 4, Stokes 5.

Whilst I do agree with most of that post mate. I do take a little umbrage with the last paragraph. I actually really enjoyed them couple of innings the young lanc lad played in India. Was refreshing to see a bit of grit and determination in staying at the crease.

If we want Cricket to stay and grow then imo we really need to get more countries involved playing test matches. Esp the big ones like yanks and china.

I know mate, and I understand that some of the more pure cricket fans will enjoy that type of innings, but I honestly don't think watching them type of innings will not bring new fans to the game.

With Hameed in particular I think he bats the same way all the time, they will always be occasions on hard wickets and hard conditions where a player puts in a great battling performance,in fact that is a real sign of a good cricket player imo been able to adapt their game to the conditions or the state of the game.

However he does not strike me as that type of player he is one dimensional and only the purist will enjoy watching him bat.

I could argue that that is nonsense

As I said before imo test cricket is certainly more entertaining now than when I was watching Tavare as a kid, ( which really was a turn off for a young lad interested in cricket)

Whether that is just a natural progress and nothing to do with one day cricket I suppose is open to debate.

Cricket all round imo,is more entertaining than it has ever been, and that imo is because you never really see the likes of Tavare nowadays or a opening batsman in a World Cup final batting all the overs for next to nowt as Gavasker did one year.

Yeah agree, I think Root is soo good and comfortable he could bat anywhere for the test team and at the moment I think the team needs him at 3 at the moment.

Stokes is brilliant like. I don't care if his averages don't show it yet but he's one of the best there is. He'd get in every single team I've ever seen.
Posted a while back on another thread. In tests he averages 27 with the ball and 45 with the bat since 2016 (or something like that)

Apart from in the last over of a world t20 final ;)

True, but he'd played little 20/20 to then, his one day bowling has improved so much, still so annoying that

I don't think this police thing will do him any harm long-term, needs to learn from it, and I think it will sharpen his mind to how good he actually is, could be one of the best ever, needs to knuckle down and prove it

By the way, I know more time has passed so its calmed down, but when he is playing you talk less about the incident than if he isn't, convinced he should have just played in the Ashes, the cricket would have been talked about more

Me? It’s a court case, and I’ve repeated myself

I stand by my opinion

He is a young man who made a mistake, hopefully it can be put into the history books, and if he learns from it, could be the making of him, which I am sure everyone wants.
