I really struggle to care about one day and t20 stuff. The length of threads on the board (even with a shorter game) suggest most people agree
I would watch it if I was awake, but it’s hard to really care
I hate the way cricket is going
There's a glimmer of hope for the 1 day game. Duke have been developing a white ball which will be trialled in the W. Indies a v Lions series. It is designed to retain its shine through the 50 overs(no need for 2 balls),hopefully be conducive to swing throughout and so enable a more even balance between bat and ball.I really struggle to care about one day and t20 stuff. A step in the right direction. Scrap the fielding restrictions and overs limit for bowlers and I'm in. Actually sod it let's get back to whites and a red ball too. If proper cricket is about to die let's make the one day stuff as close to proper cricket as possible. I know the use of the term "proper cricket" upsets some people who think it's snobbish, but I don't care. Cricket snob and proudThere's a glimmer of hope for the 1 day game. It’s short termist tho, instant appeasement for the social media generation who can’t focus on anything longer than 5 seconds. People who would prefer to spend their time on twitter rather than reading a book or the odd single rather than a great album. That' because it is snobbish and outdated thinking, the thing is cricket is more entertaining than it has ever been imo.
New fans will not be brought to cricket, when people are taking about good leaves outside the off stump.
I grew up watching so called proper cricket and the likes of Chris Tavare boring the tits off me, now we have top international cricketers playing in packed grounds in fanastic tournaments like the IPL.

And it will be a fad. Test cricket has survived because of what it is, rather than failing because of what it is
People want to be entertained. Yes. But there is only so far you can dumb down.Well I am not sure I get the comparison, people want to be entertained and whether the supporters of 'proper cricket' like or not new fans don't want to watch people leaving the ball or scoring 50 of 200 balls.
In fact one day cricket has improved test cricket, The Aussies under Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting with the likes of Adam Gilchrist actually improved test cricket with they more attacking approach.

T20 is fun. Or was. It’s enjoyable once in a while. But it’s like laughing at Peter Kay, it has zero depth. And it’s the same thing again and again and again
Agree with most. But test cricket in England is more popular than ever!Well yeah , you need the correct balance and there is no doubt there is too much T20 cricket and you need to balance it out with test cricket.
However Englands 50 over side are great to watch the best they ever have been imo.
without a shadow of a doubt imo, the majority of fans enjoy attacking cricket players more than defensive cricketers and always have.
The ironic thing is great series like The Ashes of 2005 was partly because both teams went toe to toe on attacking positive cricket and never backed down,.
Cricket is not as popular as it once was, and going back to ' proper cricket' and watching people like that young opening bat at Lancashire bat all day for next to nowt, is not going to bring fans back to cricket.

Six weeks this Friday for the big one.This. Sick to f***ing death of England pyjama cricket this winter to be honest, looking forward to the Tests but in truth I'll be glad when the county season starts again actually.
I'm working back shift tonight like, so might catch the first hour or so if I can be fucked with it.

I could argue that that is nonsenseYou could argue test cricket is more popular than ever because of the influence of one day cricket and the more attacking style of play.

Dont mind ODIs as there is more scope for strategies etc, but there are way to many 20/20s especially in international cricket. It has its place in county cricket, as it gives people the opportunity to actually see some cricket after work etc. But do international cricketers really need so much hit and run cricket. So much focus on it now, and its all we are making the lesser nations know, which means theyll never really be able to adapt to the real game. The money in 20/20 has also ruined an established test side in WI
