Top of the Pops 1982 on BBC4 now

For me it's always been '65-'70 and '77-'87.
Some good things in between these two periods....but nowhere near as good, diverse and exciting.

We all used to complain like shit every week about TOTP and how crap it was - if you were lucky there might be one or two bands on that you really liked or looked forward to seeing.

Looking back we had no idea how lucky we were to be in the middle of such an eclectic and creative period. Of course even with rose tinted geggs a lot of it was still out and out crap (Hayzee Fantayzee, Joe Dolce, others too numerous to mention) but what a time to be alive!

I was on another board recently, posting about how you’d hear a rumour that the next Jam single was going to be released soon, and if you listened to Peter Powell’s five 45s at 5.45 you might get lucky and catch the very first playing of it on radio one and get to tell everyone at school about it the next day.
In the late 80s we used to tape record all of John peel, I think it was a Friday night. There were probably some classics on there but I always remember laughing at this.

79-89 for me , once house music and all that shite came in that was me out.
The mid 80s were f***ing desolate man.

:lol:I quite like that!
I should be shocked but you know what, I should have known.

He was defending the abominable Celine Dion the other day man so I’d call this a modicum of progress.

Sozz like Cluffy, there’s absolutely nee coming back from that man.
He's either deaf or mental. Or both.

 I like going out on a limb and having a bit wind up.
On the other hand she's sold 220 million units so is it even going out on a limb?
I like energy in music and she has it in her voice.
I'm just broad-minded tbh. ;)
There are millions of gannies out there, I bet she rubs her massive hands together for the full month before Mothers day and the whole of December.

Nah mate, like showering with your dog this is something it's impossible to come back from
I'd rather have a bath with rover.

Loved that time personally , mind you I was 16 in 1985 and I was the intended market for music of that era.
I was 13 and it was f***ing rubbish.
Not being 13, that was alreet. The charts were wank.

I agree some of her stuff is over produced but her rare early demos are blinding
Doubt you've heard them tbh
