Police asking for yet more money in McCann Investigation

It's that the behaviour of these people just seems out of kilter.

This is David Payne's statement to the police which appears to contradict what you've posted.

You are right in what you say though thats why they take so many statements to try and catch out the liar.

Alot will be similar but there will be odd bits that aren't even more so if youve done something wrong.

Here's the police statement, there's a translation and it also has the original Portuguese documents, if you're more comfortable reading it in its original language.

And Dr Payne's statement was taken eleven months after the child's disappearance, which is evident in the way he answers the questions. Nevertheless, he'd had plenty time to get his story straight if he was part of a conspiracy to kill a child and dispose of its corpse, so you seem to be pointing out some very sloppy behaviour from such a cold and calculating criminal. Another own goal from you.
 
So David Payne, who's wife is looking after a 2 year old and a four year old, goes to the McCann's apartment to help Kate McCann with her children.

Watch that youtube documentary by R Hall I put up. Eventually he discounts close friends as sightings of Maddie in the timeline (as Amaral did) and things begin to become a little clearer.

So if their stories don't add up that means they're innocent?

If their stories agreed would that mean they were guilty?

And why is David Payne, who's wife is looking after a 2 year old and a four year old, going to the McCann's apartment to help Kate McCann with her children?

the gaspers statement was not given to the police, which implies that they were interviewed by police and the statement compiled. It reads like it was written by somebody who works in the legal profession, it is more that style and more than likely handed to the police.
