That's 18 wins in the last 21 now.

Must be favourites for the World Cup next year.

Which is brilliant the next World Cup is something we should give massive attention too and we have never won it.

So let's go for it and enjoy it, not constantly twist that it's have a negative effect on our test side.

That's all you seem to hear on the cricket forum!!

There are several one day players who should not get in the test side and rightly soo, like Roy,Hales and Buttler, but others like Bairstow and Root should definitely now be playing all the time in the one day side (not rested) to build a consistent side that has a settled side and settled plan going into that World Cup.

Would love us to win the world cup but just can't see it. We're England after all. Apart from some egg chasing shite and a football world cup the year my dad was born and I suppose the lasses' thing and the T20, we don't do winning world cups.

You right mate, and part of the reason is this safety first mentality, that's why this new brand of one day cricket we have been playing for the last few years is so refreshing and positive,so you never know!

True and if we play with freedom throughout tournament we'll have a chance. Concern is another Pakistan type performance, and the fact the ICC control the pitches which tend to get slower and slower as the tournament goes on, favouring the countries where the big TV viewing figures are...

So apart from 4.....

Yeah with knockout competition there is always the possibility of a one off performance that could knock you out.

But we have as good chance as we have ever had imo.

Folk got carried away with Cook and his innings, I thought overall he was very poor. Anderson was poor, just not as bad as Broad. Stoneman, Vince done nothing for me either. Throw in a bit of aggression and it's amazing what it can do for team morale. I said at the start of the series it was a bang average squad, remained so during the series and a lot of them need scattering..... thanks for your service but time to step aside.

Well done today England, ruthless and aggressive, the way it should be regardless of the format

rightly so, they aren't very good

Jimmy wasn't poor mind.

Reactions: Bri
And we didn't pick ours.

a) Wood was injured and not fit for selection.

b) Plunkett is unreliable fitness wise. While for me he was worth a gamble, today showed exactly why he wasn't risked. Can you seriously expect Plunkett to bowl 25-30 overs over 2 days and over 5 tests and not expect something like that to happen?

c) Theirs are far superior.

Apologies if SEB but Piggie Smith could be in a spot of bother...

I hope he gets done the horrible twat. Last two innings he has shaken his head in disgust at the decision given against him. One being LBW shown on review to be exactly that and today when he played a shit shot and was walking off.

Off to Australia for a month long retirement holiday (my wife’s retirement not mine sadly four more years for me) and I was dreading talking about cricket after the tests . Now we are only 3-4 down in wins and we could end up with 5 wins to their 4 it might be safe to talk cricket over there.

For the Ashes our master plan was to pick people who are predominantly one day players but who are not good enough for the ODI team for tests.

Somehow we managed to come up with a 50% success rate in Malan while Vince unsurprisingly failed.

Buttler made a very patient 60 odd before his stunning finale. Hales a solid 50 odd. Roy a less than a run a ball 180 and Rashid has 6 top order wickets in 3 games.

Sorry but its only common sense to give world class international cricketers an extended chance to make a go of it in test cricket. Every other team on the planet would do it.
