Under 19 World Cup

Not doing anything for the argument that the senior World Cup should be 12-16 teams. Some ridiculous mismatches here which doesn't bode well for the future.

65-6.

Off to kip now but hope to wake up in the morning to news of more embarrassment for the crims. Perhaps their system isn't so brilliant and ours doomed to failure after all

Bloody ell lads must be gutted. I am. Would have been a massive two fingers up to the crims and also our media after some of their chat about the state of the game in the two countries. As it is, and I know it sounds harsh, we have a group who can stuff the likes of Bangladesh, Namibia and Canada, but choke in a big knock out match against quality opposition.

Just to pick up on @brandon's point about the posh names. Could well be onto something there mate. This was clearly a step up from public school matches in terms of quality and pressure. Not sure of the history of any of the lads but wouldn't surprise me if they're at least 80% privately educated. Only going to get worse as the post free to air TV generations come through. I don't think these will remember much about the 2005 Ashes. Makes me feel old

The public school thing can on occasion be a red herring due to kids getting sports scholarships in schools they could never afford to attend but the general point is correct; fewer and fewer england (and 1st class players generally) have had a comprehensive education

Aye, a comprehensive education never did Colly any harm - I wonder whether public school, where posh kids are spoonfed everything they want and need gives youngsters the grit and determination to succeed?

The sheer bloody-mindedness of knowing you have to make the best of any opportunity you get only comes from a comprehensive schooling where you get fuckall for free.

I know Nasser got his education that way.

Watched their innings, and seen that Pope waiting to come into bat and laughed at the look of him, how i wish i hadn't now. Checked the odds before i went to sleep between innings and England were between 1/100 and 1/250 to win

I bet the Aussies won’t be scared to stick Pope into the international set up. We’d probably have him in the Lions for the next 10 years.
