Odi series against Australia

Finding it hard to find any fucks to give tbh even if it is Bayliss and FTECB's priority for the tour.

Wouldn't say no to a surprise present to go down and watch a game mind ;)

Modern starting to look like a bowler again Full 10 for 2 at 2.5. I dobt think anyone else was under 4. We obviously just need to get the opposition to put some shit batters out.

I know mate. It took me a few days to get over the ashes. But we can't stop thrashings put us of cricket too. Ffs we all must have done something wrong in a past life to support Sunderland and England Cc

And England football club. I was even born in 1967, just to really take the piss.

Or in my case swap Sunderland for Hull ;) Plus Yorkshire haven't exactly pulled up any trees in my lifetime apart from a couple of decent years under Gillespie.

Really don't see the point in having the silly cricket after the Test series, mind.

They've already won the big prize - sure, they'd love the chance to rub Pommie noses in it, but they're not gunna be fully fired up.
Most English cricket fans probably can't be arsed because we're so flat and disillusioned after the Test series.

I know everyone bangs on about '05, but that Series set the tone for the series. The T20 where everyone ganged up on Hussey (i think) made everyone realise we could get up the Australians collective nose and get into them (Tres also states this in his book).

Having them after the series is just the ultimate case of "after the Lord mayor's show", and let's face it, who could seriously give a fuck?

Despite loving our white ball revival have to agree.

I feel completely deflated about English cricket and look at Bayliss as pariah, and too raw to want him to succeed.

Even though he’s been the spark we needed in this format and do want him to continue as white ball coach.

Lift it would have been to go into to ashes having spanked them would be great. But now who cares.

I suppose it’s hard because we use up our entire cricket window and play to the end of September.

So you can’t really fit in white ball stuff without interfering with how CA want to schedule the tests around their summer.

We’d not be able have a break for the players as the Aussies ain’t gonna move tests.

Me too, even about Durham cricket.

The four day stuff is where it's at for me, ah luv following it even when I can't be there in person. And although I attended a couple of T20's last year I really can't be arsed about who wins, though I'd want Durham to win but when the final whistle blows on a game I almost instantly forget what the result was. I can't remember who won the T20 league nor where Durham came in the rankings. Sad.

So do I get up at stupid o clock and watch this, or get a full night's kip and watch a quality day of Test cricket between two of the best teams in the world tomorrow. Hmm difficult decision. NOT!

It just feels like an utterly pointless waste of time when we could be giving the lads a few weeks break to clear their heads ahead of the far more important stuff, the test series in New Zealand.
Agree none of the Test side should be playing. Root, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Malan, should all be back home resting for this and the NZ one day stuff and head back down in a couple of months for the NZ Tests.

People have paid for tickets expecting to see the strongest available sides. Some of the players are paid handsome central contracts to play all formats. They should play

Maybe so, but when you buy tickets to a 2nd rate competition, you have to be prepared to expect some players to be missing ahead of the more important games. Being well paid doesn't mean they can just move on from a series like we've just had and keep playing. Let them clear their heads and give them a better chance when it really matters.

Me, love the one day stuff and I'd love to see them win the series.

Clearly it's not the cool thing to say that on here so lets carry on dismissing it as "silly cricket" and whine about losing test matches.

It isn’t a second rate competition.

Exactly mate we have a cracking one day side and we should be positive about it.

They are great to watch surely people cannot fail to be entertained by that Roy knock today.

The snobbish attitude to one day cricket is something this board continues to do on a regular basis.

An evenly contested test match can be a wholly absorbing contest and, like many, I prefer it to a 50 over contest which, although I enjoy, I regard it as my 2nd choice i.e. I rate it 2nd. I find it difficult to understand why I should be labelled a snob for having such a preference.
