I agree about Archer, he should be playing now improving there team rather than waiting years to maybe play for England. The Windies & Zimbabwe need there own players playing for them. Him, Gabriel, Cummins, Beaton, they could start building a solid team to go forward with. If he turns out to be as good as people think he could make a huge impact in their team and surely he'll earn enough playing in T20 franchises.

Nationality as a concept gets more and more blurred, but I find his decision to give up 7 years a bit odd

Almost certainly a financial decision. The lad can pick up £100000 a year playing county cricket and top it up with franchise T20 money. Looks a good prospect. No different in terms of nationality to Small, Malcolm etc back in the day.

Aye but small and Malcom played in the era of a wealth of fast bowlers.

Windies need all the talent they can get. Plus they didn’t have to give up the peak of their career to qualify.

Archer can play county cricket and still play for the windies.

For the history of windies cricket it’s very sad that a young West Indian would rather play for England.

Especially now the qualifying is a lot longer. Giving up most of your 20s, where you could spend it playing against the worlds best and helping to rebuild a cricket nation, while earning a boat load in t20 leagues.

and in the Windies it's long been plagued by inter-island rivalry . a kind of semi- quota system.
