Sending your child to London

Pretty much, think it's a bit more in motorway services.

Never stop in those like, except for a slash if desperate. Tesco Brackley and Morrison's Rotherham (think you stayed in the hotel next door once) on the rare occasion I drive back yem.

The only thing I ever have is a breakfast wrap in McDonalds. I can confirm from the last few months they cost the same in Leeds, London Victoria, The Strand, Fratton and Havant.

The McDonalds at Market Weighton (between Pocklington and Hull) erroneously gave me a breakfast wrap one morning.

Just another tale from my impressive array of road-side food stories.

Good memory! I've used that Morrison's and hotel off the M18 several times but not the hotel for at least 8 years as I changed jobs in January 2010 :)

I don't buy much in services, take cold drinks and snacks with me from the house. Only impulse shopping women like my wife pay those rip off prices :)

By coincidence I have found out today that my son's year 2 (6-7 year old) class is going to London for a day trip to The Tower Of London. Should we go to the school with pitch forks and torches for daring to suggest such a thing?

Just a straw poll as I'm proper fummin about something!

If you had a child in Year 6 (age 10-11), would you be willing to send them on a school trip to London? It would include travelling down by train, staying in a Youth Hostel for two nights and visiting popular tourist attractions by Tube.

That age - I'm in the No camp. Too young.

Yes for me. Good experience and an adventure. Some kids are too protected these days and time away or in a different situation can be good for them and their parents. Whether it’s Derwent Hill or London it’s the same principle for me.

Depends on your barn really Becs and if you believe would be OK. Some will cope alright others not so much. Mine went away some years ago but knew she was quite mature for her age at that time. She was fine and had a great time.

Why?

You trust them to look after them for six hours a day, seven days a week.

That's completely different ffs.

I have my kids at home Saturday & Sunday btw

Anyway - there's little choice but to send them to school. It's the law.

Probably not the best comparison to make in fairness, but the point I’m making is that teachers are trained and responsible adults.

I remember the kids at Redby who couldn’t go to Derwent Hill, they weren’t happy about it. Especially when we all got back talking about what a mint time we’d had.

Plenty of children live and grow up in London with no harm befalling them.
The capital has so much on offer for children. All the museums are free and the landmark sights not to mention important government offices are all great for them to experience.

I just don't see the issue.

What makes you concerned in this arrangement?
