The Borough

Proper shame that. It was good because it was traditional and different to the 10 a penny indentikit bars round there.

Mind, we got thrown out for singing after the Richardson free kick Derby so fuck them.

I have great memories of The Borough but it has been shit for years. I occasionally have a nostalgic moment and go back in only to discover that the beer is shit (admittedly not bothered for a couple of years).
It is a shame the bar has been ripped out but it's a victim of its own low standards. Back in the day it served a cracking pint but that somehow stopped being a priority and it's suffered ever since.

As much as it was a mainstay of a town centre route, I can’t be down with a pub not having a proper glass-washer in the 21st century. They used to rinse the glasses on a brush/hose contraption in the bar sink.

It was a f***ing shit tip inside like but I liked the place, it’ll be interesting to see what’s done with it.
Its been worse in its day and yet better as it was full of punters, the nearest we had to a Newcastle type rock bar.Not full on headbanging but welcoming to all and the Charva crowd hated it ,win win .Had my 40th birthday drink in there ,about 25 of us just having a few beers

I liked the place though concede bar position and size did take up alot of space.

In changing it, I hope it doesn't become another soulless bar.

A shame as it's remained pretty much the same since I started drinking in town. USed to love going in there for the juke box and a pint of stones years back. Knew loads in there too. But, the placement of the bar always made it smaller than it should have been.

I was in just before xmas mind and it was bloody awful really.
