Living room TV set up

Is like. As long as they are high speed, that is all you need. People spend £100 on HDMI’s that do the same job as an £8 Amazon high speed

Quick question re HDMI cables, can a crap one cause noise distortion, when I'm streaming through my Roku box theres a clicking on the sound....like on a vinyl record.....doesnt happen when I stream with the xbox, is it likely to be the cable?

as a matter of interest , on your LG can you move apps to the home page ? what a feck on it is on mine to bring up smart home page then scroll down to bottom rt corner and select my apps then wait for it to load , to get to an app , all the default apps on the home page I dont use , so rather than feck on like that I use a box. Of course the browser is crap , you can't download anything and its as slow as hell .

I was going to buy some Bose noise cancelling in ear headphones in ponteland airport yesterday. The shop assistant was determined to get me to spend more.
"Get the over ear one's"
I don't want them as they are uncomfortable on a flight
"Get the Bluetooth in ear one's"
Not what I want
"Ok, if you can find me a situation where the Bluetooth one's are a disadvantage I'll give you them for free"
You can't plug them into a plane's entertainment system and the plane's entertainment system doesn't have Bluetooth, will you still give me my receipt in case I have to replace them if they're defective.

He couldn't get away quick enough

Prick

I know exactly which bloke you mean, he is full of it and does my nut in!!!

I’m getting a 65” OLED for the living room- average sized room so probably too big but who cares?

I’m wall mounting so would you suggest just putting the maximum HDMIs in the wall- including one for a soundbar (ARC) to come out near the bottom for a unit below?

I want a soundbar to give the sound a bit more oomph. I’m a bit worried about the height of the TV though- I don’t want it too high but I’ve got a two year old who will want to plaster fingerprints all over it.

Anyone got any good examples of their living room set up/entertainment units?

Ooooo look at me. Grow up.

The prices are very reasonable now, dropped loads for the 2017 models haven't they - great news for the consumer!

Use that money you saved to get Steve in the calibrate it ;)

Aye. Prices arent foing to get any lower than that before they sell out.

Very tempted like. Havent broken that to the Mrs yet mind.. cant wait to see her reaction

I have set my tv display up from a list of optimal picture settings I found on an internet site that reviews tellies. It went into all the advanced menus and fiddled with settings I’d never heard of. Could a calibration from a professional really be any better than that, as he’d have no access to any other settings than the ones I’ve already calibrated via the recommendations I found myself?

Absolutely 100% mate yes.

They are experts at this stuff, they have 1000's of pounds worth of kit to read the exact state of your TV, show you where it stands with reds, greens, blues etc, then tweak them as needed to make them perfect.

It's literally a tailored session for your TV, not a generic one. The generic ones are pointless as every set is different out of the factory.

If every set was the same, a generic set of settings would be fine (it would also be done in the factory) - but they vary so much. I have only ever done what you do before, I thought it was enough. I was wrong, very wrong and happy to admit!

this 100% I'd also add that calibration also depends on your preferred/actual viewing conditions

I can remember when televisions were on a stand and kids just didn’t touch them, when did kids start to?

Must be when you plant the seed. ;)

On the other hand... no, cos it's all down to personal preferences.

Theres always been fingerprints on my TV and my lad finds it amusing to climb on the unit and peep his head above the TV from the back as well as pulling the screen. Thats all well and good with a heavy plasma but with a thin screen OLED? Hmm

I bet you laughed the first time he did it.
