65" OLED, and you're not going to spend even £500 on a proper surround sound setup? Seems mad to me.I’m getting a 65” OLED for the living room- average sized room so probably too big but who cares?
I’m wall mounting so would you suggest just putting the maximum HDMIs in the wall- including one for a soundbar (ARC) to come out near the bottom for a unit below?
I want a soundbar to give the sound a bit more oomph. I’m a bit worried about the height of the TV though- I don’t want it too high but I’ve got a two year old who will want to plaster fingerprints all over it.
Anyone got any good examples of their living room set up/entertainment units?

Speakers to higher than the soundbar? One word. Kids.
Good height if even a little low
Speakers to higher than the soundbar?
High speed is the only cable really. Cables and hdmi port standards don't alai match up, it's really confusingI suppose so but then there's the noise
HDMI leads...been told 3m minimum to ensure long enough to go through wall. Are any 3m high speed ones good enough or do I need to go a bit pricier?

And why would proper surround sound cause more noise?
The idea is to get a better range of sound rather than just have it louder.Just thought more speakers would produce more noise overall?

This. HDMI will either work or it won't, there's no difference between fancy ones and cheap tat when it comes to the quality of picture or sound.Get some amazon basic ones. Don’t need to spend money on hdmi leads. It’s a massive con!

I once spent £20-25 on an HDMI cable, simply because I couldn't go elsewhere conveniently. When I was last rewiring everything up it wouldn't work on one of my consoles. Bastards.People who buy them "Monster" cables want their heads read!

Pfftsods law! Dixon's and the like take the piss mind.
As sleepy said, Amazon basics are spot on.

Is like. As long as they are high speed, that is all you need. People spend £100 on HDMI’s that do the same job as an £8 Amazon high speed
Potentially less. The better the quality of sound, the less volume you need.Just thought more speakers would produce more noise overall?
Someone ‘forgot’ to tell the shop assistants this!
