Can’t even consider dropping him unless Stoneman starts scoring and Hameed or to a lesser extent Jennings find their form again in the county Championship

jennings finding his form, now he has left durham we can all be a bit more honest about one good season out of a career - what does finding his form really mean?

if borthwick hadn't buckled when england came calling and had such a poor year this year you could be looking at a wonderfully exciting young and dynamic batting order, something like stoneman, hameed, borthwick, root, stokes, bairstow in the near future. i guess it is possibly after a season of settling in badger regains his form. that would be great to watch and all the potential in the world

Starting to look a bit out of touch and may think it's time to leave the test side?

They've got his number so far, either pace and spin.

Now before anyone starts, he has been and may still on occasions be a world class opener.

I just feel like south Africa, the Aussies have him. Next summer it's India, now he does have a good record against them, so I hope he can continue but imo, we are beginning to see the autumn to winter of cooks England test career

Just going through a lean spell

Well, well, well. Some apologies owed by many on here. Some apologies owed by many so called pundits aswell. Didn't that absolute weapon Swann say he should retire?

f***ing wankers.

Well batted Cooky lad, some of us never doubted you. Mind I think a big factor is that he didn't have to face Starc

Its a perfect Cooky pitch. No reward for hitting on the up, no pace. Patience and straight bats the order of the day. He's batted well.

What about Malan, has he not earned his stripes?

Stoneman still has questions to answer for me. He's gone longer without a century than some of the opener merry-go-round.

Hameed is not ready yet. And, yes, as you say Borthwick needs to rediscover his touch.

Joe Clarke at Worcester I like a lot too. But hope Cook stays for a bit.
