Yep. I allowed myself to get a little bit carried away after the Fulham win, but this team is so, so lacking in any quality we'll do well to stay up. That's the aim though, stop up at all costs and write the season off.

We are in the f***ing shit yet you only have to be average to be mid table. I hate these players.
I'm sick of saying how poor the league is. Sadly, we are awful.

Jobs fucked man
Can't play against two banks of four at home for starters
I’ve been saying for years we don’t have a formation we can play that doesn’t have a huge downside. Until we can pick a team and formation that isn’t a compromise somewhere on the pitch then we will struggle.
For example if O’Shea plays we will be sitting deep, which means the midfield has to drop as they can’t cover the ground if our striker likes to play on the shoulder (in the past see Defoe, now see Grabban)
Playing a 2 in the middle of the park is to difficult for us due to the mobility of the midfield.
Playing with wingbacks only works if the can get forward. If they are pinned back like today we have no way of getting out and resort to passing the ball sideways or backwards any forward pass is just an aimless hoof.

Anyone else genuinely worried now?

Having seen a CM of Gibson Gooch and Honeyman, three individuals who are simply not good enough to play for this club and never will be, trying to knock the ball around in what can only be described as hopeless desperation, I have arrived at the conclusion that nothing is going to stop us quietly sliding into league one.

Coleman isn't getting any money to spend, Grabban has probably binned us off, John O'Shea will make his cameo move to Fulham or somewhere so as to not embarrass his glittering career achievements, Ndong will be away on loan to Dynamo Nepal or somewhere

We're dooooomed
Not as much worried as accepted. I think it's a 3 from 4. COleman is going to have to be a better wheeler dealer than Del boy to get this bunch of garbage freshened up into something attempting to be a football squad.

O Shea is the best defender we have got at the club.

Frightening innit?

I don’t think he is, (but he’s probably second if you don’t count Kone) and I think he’s one of the biggest problems we have.
You can’t build your team around an aging central defender and that’s what we have had to do for 2 seasons. And it’s not worked out at all.
If you have a slow defence and a slow midfield then you have to sit deep but then you need to have a team who can run all day. We start blowing out of our arses after an hour. You also need someone who can hold the ball up to allow your slow players to catch up to the play.
Browning is quick, he just can’t jump, but I think he’s our best defender!
Play on the half way line and press the opposition.

Before today I wasn't at all concerned about the chance of getting relegated.

After today's pathetic performance I accept we have a lot to do to stay in this division and I can't see where the change is going to come from.

Anyone else not go from doom monger to completely hope filled within a few games? Too many people on this board think 4 points in 3 games was going to completely transform our season ffs

My motto this season for Sunderland is beat a B otherwise we will be considered B S !!!!

How can you not be worried?

The job on is huge and I'm not sure Coleman is (or many managers would be) up to it. And that's no great slight on him.

Replacing Grabban's goals with nowt to spend...best of luck with that.

Is Grabban's departure actually a thing or is it just an SMB meme?

yes very worried, it is looking like another relegation, for those who are too young to remember the relegation to Division 3, it's not good although on the bright side we did storm that league and had some great away days, but this team would also struggle in league 1 imo.

There are five or six absolutely abysmal sides at the bottom of the table, ourselves included. That said, we have one of the best managers in the division and arguably the best goalscorer too (for now anyway). We are as well placed as anyone to pull away.

Spot on.

You can't be as bad as you were and expect Coleman to come in and drag you up the table.

You're in a relegation battle and it's his job to make steady improvements and keep you up.

But you know what fans are like, win one and you're gonna make a late surge for the play-offs, lose one and you'll be in the conference in a couple of years.

This will be proven or not over the coming months, as it stands neither Alex Ferguson or Pep Guardiola could get a tune out of the apologies for professional footballers we currently employ.
