U2 Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Tour

U2 have teamed up with Ticketmaster to operate a 'Verified Fan' access to tickets. Customers could subscribe for a priority access code to give them first choice of the tickets and to prevent 'scalpers and bots' from getting tickets. It hasn't has gone very well .... there's hundreds on resale sites for every venue in the USA .... including Ticketmaster who were the 'partner' in trying to stamp out ticket resales .
Viagogo have 202 tickets listed for resale for the NY 2nd gig and they don't go on sale until Monday !https://www.viagogo.co.uk/Concert-Tickets/Rock-and-Pop/U2-Tickets/E-2470157

Only way it will ever be stopped is if the government make it ilegal which won't happen

It's not naivety on U2's part. They can be in no doubt that Ticketmaster are world leaders in the resale market. With Bono freely admitting that U2 make nowhere near what they used to in record sales(nor anyone else for that matter) you have to ask the question "Are they in on it". The verified fan scheme just seems like a token gesture to make it look like they are truly doing something about it.

They have the opportunity to follow Ed Sheerans example and cancel all tickets that are up for resale (didn't Adele do that also ?). The subscription may have stopped the 'bots' but the scalpers will have simply paid the $50 subscription for the code.

This 100%

I've was at the gig at the O2 for the Innocence and Experience tour and had to show the card I used to pay for the tickets to get in as well as photo ID. This, in principle, is a good idea but they're very strict on their terms and conditions and won't allow any transfer of tickets. Would be a mare if you genuinely couldn't go but your hands were tied regarding someone else using the tickets.

Are they??

Its still not official but dates seem to all have been arranged and its simply waiting on the band to make it official.

Rumours are only 2 dates in the UK - both at the O2 in London. Its looking like a shortish set of dates again spread about with only 2 or 3 gigs per country.

This happened to me at the radiohead gig in Dublin. They had the same regulations in place that night. I ended up getting better tickets than the initial tickets I had bought but friends of mine were using the initial tickets. Talking to the steward outside I was told to send photos of my drivers license and the credit card used to buy the tickets to my friends and they would be allowed in. I did this and they got in without issue. I think a certain amount of leeway and common sense can still be applied.

Hope it’s not in June when I’m on holiday.

After summer anarl, so its arena's again

The theory of the I&E tour was that the same staging set up was to be used for both the 1st and 2nd tour which would mean its Arenas all around again - and the stage set up as per Ticketmaster for US shows does give the impression that it is indeed the same stage.
