Ashes Second Test - Adelaide

Changed my mind during my post haha

Stokes has to come in, as the balance of the side is wrong.

Vince isn’t even a decent first clsss cricketer, malan has guts i’ll give him that but not good enough.

Problem is we have nee f***ing backup as the selection has been utter shite.

Foakes and stokes in for me. Wood if he’s magically fit too. Get the team right and we might have some fight.
Agree, they have to take a good hard look at Foakes as an option. I haven't heard how he's doing with the Lions but if he's doing anything go for it.

If you think our strength for years has been the middle order Root, Stokes, Bairstow and Ali were and are a tremendous series of players .... but Stokes and lack of someone who is even reliable occasionally in the Vince position.

And bowlers are too similar paced, they need more variety.

I was hoping for better from Ball and Woakes. I think they're better bowlers than they have shown. Woakes has been bowling at 90mph before his injury.

And whoever said Woakes is an all-rounder - he looks completely out of his depth with a bat and overall he's a step down from Bresnan.

If England are going to get anywhere they need to take red ball cricket more serious during the English season .... for a start playing games on the Summer would help and fewer in spring and Autumn.

Oh yea. People are still underestimating Lyon and Starc and Cummings are better than any we have.
Ball is a county plodder.

Started off really well in banagldesh but has been shite since.

Woakes despite taking 4fer in the last innings wouldn’t surprise me he takes less than 4 in the next game. Convential swing or he’s a pie chucker really.

There's one batsmen who can reliably bat an innings out on both sides, Smith. He's not pleasant to watch and dosent score at a rate of knots but he occupies, plays around the circumstances and is a load bearer for others to score around. Root isn't there yet but he's shown signs of it.

Pretty much every other top order batsman on both sides seems obsessed with trying to dominate the attack. Over 5 days it's unlikely you'll be permanently on top but that's the way they all play. No caution. Nibble, chomp, whack and whiff at everything whether you're hundreds ahead or behind. Under pressure? Go for it. Under no pressure? Go for it. It's a less a contest of skill than it is basic competence.

Agree with Malan, he’s been getting praise for digging in but he averages 25 ffs.

Bairstow needs to be moved up the order, absolutely wasted in his current position when he’s probably our second best batsman

The options in the Lions squad aren’t great, Livingstone would be a typical Bayliss pick mind

I'd persevere with Malan, he at least has shown discipline.

Reactions: Boo
One of the most galling things, is that the Aussies gave us a chance to win the game.

Not enforcing the follow on and putting us in under lights.

Was them bottling it and we still fucked it up.

In the end, that was all disappointing and predictable. I think Vic Marks nails it here: . (There is no finer writer on cricket right now).

Now it's over, I will comment about the toss. Imo a huge error, which contributed to this heavy defeat.

Again wickets 6 to 10 contributed for Australia the margin of victory.

It's sad to watch this, as we have witnessed this before, but 5-0 looks well and truly on.

I'd rather not have to play him but the selectors have decided not to take Plunkett who was fit and bowling well so we haven't really got a choice

Ludicrous to not take Plunkett. He's aggressive and has pace, just what you want over there.

I just would worry For Wood himself.
