Stranger Things

I enjoyed it, but for me it's taking homage way too far. It's almost as if they wrote down a list of 80s films they love on a whiteboard, then worked out what percentage of each they could use in order to make a whole product that has almost no original content. I like a little bit of a cineliteral nod here and there as much as the next man, but after a few episodes i was worn out with them and was virtually rolling my eyes at yet another character or scene or in joke that's just been transplanted lock stock and barrel from something they watched when they were kids
The opening credits are the best thing about it tbh. I enjoyed the first series - there was plenty of intrigue about what was going on and the mysterious characters involved. Series two was largely much of the same, minus most of the intrigue and mystery. Disappointing on reflection.

Saw the first two last night, really impressed with the strong start... would have watched more but the bairn won’t allow us to watch them on our own...:)

The whole 80s thing, especially in the mall man  (that's not a spoiler) is perfect to within and inch! The music, the clothes, the way people act.

Turns out 85 was a class year for cinema too
There’s a promo film somewhere of the Metrocentre opening up (may have been a visit from Thatcher?), it’s as if they’d seen that film and modelled the whole set on it...

They’ve always been nostalgic series, and this is no different in that sense (only seen the first two episodes).

Season 2 was utter shite. Lost a lot of interest after that.

Glad to read that season 3 is meant to be a lot better, but then again that isn't exactly a high bar.

i thought the duffer brothers said the story would take 4 series to tell?

I've read today that it was 6. But that's neither here nor there is it? The second series was poor and basically the same as the first.

Whethert that is part of a 4 series overall plan or a 40 series one it was still poor viewing, in my opinion, of course

Enjoyed the 2nd season. Wasn't as good as the first, I'd say it built on it though.

Remember reading 4, but maybe 5 a while back.
