Off to NZ according to George Dobell.
"Ben Stokes has been granted a No Objection Certificate by the ECB and is free to play in New Zealand this weekend if he agrees terms with a team. His plans were not arranged by the ECB and are understood to have come as a bit of a surprise".

A couple of first class games will do him the world of good. Hopefully it's still 1-0 Or better 1-1 when him and Wood are brought in. Hhhhaaaaawwaaaayyy

Probably sick to f***ing death of the ECB being a set of fannies. Clearly the police haven't banned him from travelling - probably because he's not been charged of anything - so for me there is no reason at all for him not to be in Oz.

Apart from him being subject to their disciplinary action, which they can’t do yet as they await the outcome of the police action

The ECB can’t win here

He can't play for us atm, it would be far too disruptive.

Ecb are f***ing pricks. Botham did far worse in his career. Get the lad back in the team..

There was also a spectacular night out in Bundaberg, when David Gower tried to match Botham rum for rum and ended up being carried home by Botham and Allan Lamb. Botham should probably have told him to calm down, but he was having too much fun. After he had put Gower to bed, Botham resumed his night out and head-butted a quarrelsome sugar farmer.

Good article at

Some cracking articles on the Guardian Cricket pages. Spent a fair few hours on there at the weekend.

Great read that. Good points about the pressure on the Aussies when the win isn't an option. It's a shame we don't have the players to just occupy the crease and wear the Aussies down. Cook can but looks out of sorts and maybe Stoneman but that's about it.

If Cook finds form then it'll be huge cos it seems he's very happy with young Rocky at the other end and would swing things in our favour I reckon.

Root's current inability to covert 50s into big tons is a real worry as well. I've no doubt he'll come out of it but it's been going on a while and will no doubt be playing on his mind big time by now.
