38 1st class matches according to cricinfo with over 100 wickets and Sheffield Shield is a higher standard than 2nd div. CC. Pitches in the 2nd div will also be more bowler friendly. Hardly euphoric but let's face it we're hardly the most attractive club at present.
Just for context, Mark Davies who was injury prone as hell, played more than 100.

I know the Sheffield Shield has fewer games, but has this lad had injury problems? Or is he not very good?

Good signing this. I remember him from the Big Bash a couple of years ago, big bushy beard, canny bowler, decent bat. Probably more effective in the 1 day stuff but we've been poor in that. G'day Rimmo!

In late 2007/8 time he had a long lay off due to hip injury which meant he had parts of bone shaved

Think he could do well hasnt really played that much first class games but 30 odd fc games and 100 odd wickets at 30’s and a fc ton on aussie pitches. Plus he seems to be a good one day and t20 bowler (big bash) aswell

Strengthens our batting line-up. 3 number 8s in Rimmington, Weighell and Wood (if fit/available) + added Rushy of course at 11.

How about a very, very quiet announcement ?
Read on Tynemouth CC Twitter yesterday that they had signed "young Durham batsman, Mike Jones".
Nothing on Durham CCC Social media or website at all.
Believe he is the young Scots lad who scored 179no last season for Scotland A team v Durham 2's.
Would be nice if Durham had announced it ?

He's a 19 year old from Ormskirk. As well as that 179* he's been doing the 2nd XI circuit scoring freely for Durham,Derby and Leics. Sounds promising!
But ssh! It's obviously it's a Durham secret.
