Disturbing films

Cannibal Holocaust, i'm not easily shocked but I genuinely wish i'd never watched it because of the animal cruelty in it. Horrendous.

Tbf, the title suggests it's not gonna be all sweetness and light.

The animals weren't really hurt in it were they?

Totally agree but did you know there are loads of animal deaths in very popular mainstream films, iirc in The Pirates of the Carribean hundreds of fish, turtles crabs and many other sea life were killed when they were doing explosions in the sea, also iirc in The Life of PI the tiger nearly drowned, if you google it there are loads.

Took me ages to get over the scene in Honey I shrunk the Kids when Anty died.

Some good calls here.

The haunting (original one)
Freaks
Last house on the left, is agood modern day one.

I'll throw in the original, I Spit on Your Grave and Vacancy.

From what i can remember when i was young they turned a giant turtle upside down on its shell and cut off its feet and flippers with a knife. The poor turtle was flipping and twitching like mad.
Then a small frightened animal, not sure what it was but about the size of a large cat or small fox was tetheret to a stake and a giant snake (maybe a python) came along for its treat.
The animal knew what was coming and was absolutely terrified. Totally f***ing unnessary. The bastards.
There was other stuff that ive luckily forgotten about.

ARTAXXXX!

Dont mate. f***ing sick bastards.
I dont know what their standards are these days but cruelty for a movie is disgusting.

I was going to say The Road ( books worse like) or Ex Machina but they've been well and truly trumped by some of the shit mentioned on here. I googled that Human Centipede thing that's been mentioned. Couldn't get to sleep last. Ugly thinking about it. And the cruelty of to the animals, though I haven't and won't see it, is already winding me up. Wish I hadn't read this thread.

Blood Meridian by cormac mccarthy is a superb read if you liked the road.

I did like The Road, sort of but it was grimmer than hell, as you know. I might swerve if it's in a similar vein. Finding myself increasingly sensitive to unpleasantness as I age but thanks for the recommendation.
