sky broadband down in the area

It seems like a roadworks crew have cut through the fibre. It's not sky's fault really.
It's a pain in the arse but for once I'm not getting angry with Sky. If BT Openreach are involved then there's probably a YTS lad wandering around the A19 with a spanner.
I work from home so it scuppers most of my plans, might just have the day off and go out and do something instead.

Feel for any parents out there. Mine is bad enough without wifi for 5 minutes, in fact he's annoyed that sleep affects him not being able to watch YouTube

Be surpsised mind, I was away for a long weekend with the bairn, had to use me hotspot over the 3 days streaming cack cartoons on Netflix. Used just under 1GB

I had a 20 talk and 20GB deal which they upped to 25/25 for free earlier this year. But when I discovered the wonders of the hotspot thingy and spending time at the allotment with no wifi I signed up for an extra eighty GB for just forty kroner more so now have a twenty-five talk and 105GB. For some reason, and despite the EU ruling, when I was in the NE last month only six of the 105 were free abroad. But in two weeks in Seaburn I used just under five GB in total. I used the guesthouse wifi thingy when there but the hotspot thingy everywhere else. I thought six GB for a fortnight would be too little but it wasn't. Lasts longer than I thought it would.

Looks like I was right...

Yea you were. I presumed they must be digging up the road, but I guess they just need the lane closed for equipment

Folk working from home etc. Wonder what attempt they make at compensation?

If I worked from home I’d have been straight to a nearby phone shop and bought a mifi or data dongle.

Compensation will probably just be money off your bill pro rata to what you’ve missed out on. So less than £1 for me

Will get alot of cancelled contrscts though. Can't offer a service that's been paid for. Easy get out.

I would have thought they could reclose the lane to work after rush hour? Seems extremely harsh just to leave it till 21.00 again.

Doubt it'll be a way out of a contract. They'll refund you for the missing days.

Imagining their call centres dealing with some serious rage like. Folk working from home etc. Wonder what attempt they make at compensation?

When it happened to me, I think I got 31p back on my next bill for a day downtime.

I'm just using my phone as a hotspot. Guess I should check on my data usage but I've avoided using it for anything too heavy.

What is their fault is the inability to react to the issue when first reported (during the night), to then not be able to get it fixed when access gained... a d the awful communication. Only had maybee 4 updates over last 24 hrs..... shocking
I've had enough updates to keep me informed. Any more would have been pointless.
Where the problem is they need to close a lane of the A19 which they can't do at a moment's notice.

This  can just picture them "duh....whats a telephone cable look like"

Couple of years ago the water board chopped through the telephone cables serving our estate. For 22 properties it took them over 2 days to fix it, and it was only on the pavement.

My kids are lost without it
I'm lost without it :D

Squeezebox was bollocksed so i had to listen to total sport through the telly blasting from the other end of the house while i cooked the tea. Nee kodi to watch any decent shows so i sat and watched f***ing bake off. And nee frankie at the click of a mouse either, i bet sales of fiesta and club international have shot up in the last 24 hours.

Has anyone else made the comparison to the South Park episode where they all go to a concentration camp to use the internet / wifi ?

Regardless, even if you had something like a 6GB plan, it's not going to last long, maybe the odd TV show on netflix.
Watched the Portugal game last night Via tethering and it only used 1.5gb. That's HD and 2 hours of footage.

Got 30GB so I should be fine.

Depending on who you are with, you won't get charged for data when you use your allowance anyway. You just get a 'slower' data connection. O2 completely disconnect your data so you have to buy a a bolt on. I'm sure vodafone and EE just slow it down still

Just checked and got loads (8GB) to last me 15 days. As long as I'm back up and running in the next couple of days I'll be fine.
