Where can you get them?!
Sorry marra they were a limited edition we had made last year, all gone, if you look through the FTECB badges thread (later pages) I'm sure there were a couple of lads suggesting they had one spare?

I recall Martin Emmerson last year mentioning that he was surprised at the anti Durham feeling around the counties...... presumably the boards not the fans.

I'm a bit surprised at Stu querying the contribution of Durham Council.... I would have thought it was an obvious and beneficial move. . . better than some of the public art that councils invest in anyway. I was surprised that Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside didn't get involved much, although I think they were on the sidelines. Durham cricket is a resource for the whole of the North East the exposure of the international matches benefits us all.

Anyhoo, I solemnly swear that if I ever win the lottery I'll be on the phone to Beefy and get this sorted.

I get the feeling that Durham will be milked by the ECB and will never get out from under until they are able to bring in funding to buy them out.

The lack of support from the other counties was dreadful. So much for 18 counties united and sticking together they dropped Durham like a stone and most of them where spending more time eyeing up our players.

Another excellent article from Stu Rayner.

Fuck The England Cricket Board.

A final sale and purchase agreement with a potential investor was being raised but Durham’s money was going to run out a month or two before his could be injected. The ECB were approached about a short-term £1.35m loan to bridge the gap and cover wages, and although they agreed to it – at four percent interest – they decided more drastic action was needed to protect first-class cricket in the North East. Some viewed what happened next as a “power-grab”.

this bit in particular, sheds a bit more light on the rumours of a buyer that the ecb rejected

I only buy when big jackpots

but DCCC would be debt free and rent free if i wont £160m

Some of those conditions were outlined in a letter in May and the board agreed to them a month later, prompting Leach’s resignation. In early September an extraordinary general meeting approved the ECB’s terms and further unspecified conditions but the board had no inkling relegation and a 48-point deduction were in the offing until a hand-delivered letter from ECB chairman Colin Graves on September 30.

how can this make any sense?

the club agreed in early september but the rules surrounding the agreement didn't come till the end of the month? that is proper gun to the head type stuff, how can they formulate the plan after it has been okayed?!

Yep. The actions of the ECB, Graves and Harrison in particular are disgraceful.

how graves has the gall to sit on the committee that agreed this whilst also presiding over yorkshire, in 3 times the debt we are, is an absolute disgrace. botham talks of conflict of interest with regards to national selectors - with which i whole heartedly agree (strauss may well be right and they don't abuse their positions but this doesn't prevent a player from thinking 'well with x in charge at county y i will have a better chance of getting into the england set up') - but it goes far beyond just this.

Also interesting to read more details about the salary cap breach. i did think it was harsh at the time, when england payers come off the books surely you should have a grace period? otherwise you'd have to operate below the cap by the entire wages of all england players just in case they have a poor year and get cut.

the fact that it was only £14k is laughable.

It's absolute bullshit Fromm Strauss. Of course he has to say that, but there is absolutely loads of evidence in recent years of selectors abusing their position - no one more so in my memory than Newell. He's a f***ing cock and I really hate him now.

I called it last season, some may remember, how can and Moores be held in national regard when they led a team, that was handsomely tipped to WIN the championship, to relegation. They weren't even close to staying up either. Rewarding failure, but then that is what FTECB seem to do best.
