Brian Rose, captain of Somerset did a similar thing years ago in the group stages of the Benson and Hedges Cup.
In last group game he declared after one ball and the opposition won by scoring one run of their first ball. Somerset went through to knock outs as group winner on run rate.
Not against the rules, but explain that to the full house at the game !
I believe he was suspended and fined and spectators were refunded their money.

They did get chucked out retrospectively though. Even their own committee voted to thrown themselves out.

Just read that. Shocking really my only query is did the Cresselly side not consider that was a possibility, and if so why put them into bat?

Maybe they did and thought there's no way they'd do something so low. Surely there is a case to be had for them throwing the game and being docked points?

Surrey declared to deny Lanchasire bonus points in their current game...........

Just saying like.

Take yer point but they chucked a match. They didn't make a cynical declaration (which is crap too imo) but they deliberately lost the game.
Im still stsggered how this act alone didn't contravene any rules

2 teams in the NEDL "chucked a match" by conceding whilst fielding.
What happened to them ? A Points deduction !!

What else are the league meant to do? Team in the losing position, felt that taking their players back onto the field would lead to injury. In one case this is backed up by video and photographic evidence. So conceded the match, as the umpire would not abandon the game.
