Im glad you posted this thread mind Trundler, with all the comings and goings we've already seen - it's meant quite a few individual player threads and as such much of the debate has been lost amongst them all.
Overall, I'm feeling really positive about 2018. I suppose what helps is the knowledge we can't get relegated. The other thing is we've got nothing to lose, so we can look forward to seeing how our new team goes and also the progress of what looks to be a vastly youthful side.
The loss of Jennings, Coughlin and Onions hasn't hit me with the same impact that I'd have expected. I don't know quite why, but definitely with Jennings and Coughlin I don't think they'll be a massive miss. I reckon both players owed us more loyalty than they showed, but they've both done very little this season and very little for us full stop when you really think about it (with the obvious exception of Jennings 2016). Take away that bumper year for Jennings and we'd all be suggesting he be released anyway.
Bunny is a club legend, no doubt about that, but his best years are past him, I'd have rather seen him retire with us, but I can't see him playing much longer than another season anyway.
The players we've signed are very shrewd bits of business and the rise of some unheralded players has been a very pleasant surprise and a massive bonus for us. Steel, Clark and Potts for example have been phenomenal. I also think we'll see more new faces. I actually feel Beefy will be working on getting a strike bowler (at the very least).
Some were joking earlier on that we may not have enough players left to field a side, but in actual fact I believe we've got just as much depth as we had starting this year, if not more when you consider the progress and improvement seen from lads we expected nowt from.
I posted my team above, but there's plenty of replacements for those lads. So I do genuinely think we'll make a better fist of it next year, to what we have this year. If we get a strike bowler in, to compliment Rushy, I'd even stick my neck out and say we'll push for promotion.
