Obviously biased but I think it's the best ground in the league. New drainage done about 4 / 5 seasons ago which has bedded in well. New electronic scoreboard installed this season. Patio with good seating outside the pavilion. Also has netting for spectator safety. Track is a batsmans paradise.

Very nice set up. Similar to willington. Thinking about coming out of retirement next season if I could get fit enough to play. Would certainly enjoy having a go up there.

They will need to have 26 set of fixtures to accommodate instead of 22 (each club will have 2 free fixtures)

Tbf like what is said below it might not mean literally however if someone does meet the requirements it will be up to the clubs in the DCL whether they are accepted or not. Like you said more fixtures could be a downside but a stronger league being a plus.

I have no idea what they don't meet, I was surprised tbh. Shotley Bridge do as otherwise their wouldn't be a playoff, again I have no info as to why they do but if you read the rules as long as they can work towards the criteria they can be let in.

I don't think it great either tbf as there needs to be a safety net for all clubs whilst also having a home for those clubs who want to play village cricket. Lets be honest there are a few clubs who could struggle in the years to come and a couple of so called big clubs of the past that are struggling now and might have nowhere to go, surely that cant be good, I would also hate to see clubs fold that are in the NEDCL as they don't have an appropriate place to go.
I can see the flip side for clubs wanting to play in the DCL as I know of a couple of clubs who feel they have been harshly treated by their respective leagues in recent years.

Aye, it's great at Hunwick CC now. Even better if you knew it of old and the death-trap of a score box. I imagine you'll be doing out the big room, putting a bar in there Hilly?

How on earth can the DCL accept more teams with more fixtures when they don't have enough umpires for the fixtures they have now.

They're stuffed from what I've read in terms of having a 1st division of 13. Can't see a way around it if CECC lose the play-off. You could easily stick an extra couple of weeks on the season, play until late September when it's warmer than it is in late April.

Perfect...more fixtures that potentially clash with the football. Half the reason teams are short is because somehow people would rather watch the shitty football than play cricket

To fit 4 extra fixtures in will mean start a week earlier as they can't play any later as they need to fit play-off game for promotion. Will mean a further 3 double weekends....I can't see many teams to struggle finding 3 teams on those extra sundays

I loved that little death trap! Cracking view!

In terms of a bar I'm sure its something we might discuss eventually but selling cans from the fridge seems to be going well for us so far. Havent had any complaints from anyone yet.

I always thought the trip up to the score box was a dirty ploy to scupper the opposition bowlers into doing their back in and being unable to bowl. Naughty Hunwick!

They cannot go on past the 2nd Saturday in September as there may need a play off next season. Rules agreed by all leagues.

I've commented on a previous thread that leagues should arrange games around football. Much as I hate that idea. Needs must though.
