I have noticed that a lot of the new generation of kids coming in, have indeed become hooked on the T20 format. Granted it probably has more exposure, but in an era of XBox's and PS4's, we are going to struggle to keep a kid's attention for a full day of Test Cricket.
I am as strong an advocate for test cricket being the pinnacle as anyone, but I do think we have to move with the times. The current balance is fine for me. I think everyone has their respective T20 leagues set up, and all seem to be doing pretty well, and test cricket is ticking over ok in terms of keeping people playing, barring probably the West Indies although they looked ok last week.
This debate is probably a little skewed, as the limited number of people reading a cricket forum on RTG, are likely to be more purist than most, so will naturally favour test cricket, but I think stepping back and looking at the bigger picture of simply getting people to play cricket, we must embrace a balance.
