Ask if the club are planning on inviting Latham back for 2018.

Also, ask which players are being offered new deals.

Right well, thansk for waiting patiently.

f***ing hell, that all started a bit aggresively and sadly put Jon Lewis, Random club gadgee and Cameron Steel on the back foot to begin with. 10+ minutes of whinging on and complaining and that.

Frustratingly it meant Lewis was quite bullish to begin with and the first question i wish i had re asked later on when it became more of a question and answer - the initial barrage was more brett lee to piers morgan than durham members to club.

After a long rambling whinge on eventually it was put to lewis would onions be getting a new deal. Lewis, after sitting through a fair bit of barracking was not very forthcoming. He [bunny] needs to prove he still has it, we have young players fighting for postion, weighell, arshad etc. Basically a rebuffing of the question, no news there. If asked later i think he might have given more on it but sadly it wasn't pushed later on. He didn't seem very convinced or enthusiastic but that might just be because he was fucked off with how everyone had been to begin with.

Steel did mention, with regards to the media, when that story about keaton and coggers come out they weren't happy, he specifically said about keaton it was the first he had heard about him being approached, and don't believe the press, the players hate that shite as much as we don't enjoy reading it.

I asked about latham for @brandon and lewis was fairly glowing and said they'd need to look at NZ fixtures but was something that was worth a discussion. Again, fairly wishy washy but as i say at this point they all just looked like they would rather be anywhere else.

Steel was asked about his background, his parents are both british, as we know born in california, they emigrated to australia until he was 17, he went to durham university.

i asked about burnham as a bowler as i had heard this a while back, lewis was enthusiastic about him as a genuine all rounder, he has had tendonitis in his knees so isn't being rushed back but they will be hoping for him to be eased towards it and with a view to next season him bowling for us in matches if all goes well.

Jon Lewis is not a fan of the no toss rule and will be trying to push the abandonment of this. doesn't think it has changed much for players and tactics just thinks it is unfair. steel said he quite likes it as everytime were playing at cls he can rock up knowing we'll bat :lol:

He also, whilst making it clear he doesn't like the city franchises said it is happening and he wouldnt waste time fighting it, they just have to make a fist of it. should have asked more about this but didn't. sorry.

will be gold membership becoming available from next season again [5 years for the price of 4]

upcoming game against australia, white ball day/nighter not sure when but they are looking at it, sounds like it is definitely happening [as much as anything is defininte]

the rest really was just people whinging about various things and not much anyone can say. they'll try and get the pa sorted, lookin at better transport links, parking, finances blah blah

I'm sure you'll not be surprised to hear this did come up. Next year, it is not at the top of the list of priorities for Lewis.

Oh and i asked about the mental side of what the points deduction meant.

Lewis said it did perhaps affect them more than they anticipated, especially with starting later than everyone else, playing notts the strongest side first up and effectively being completely out of touch with everyone a handful of games into the season. Things certainly picked up when they got back into positive points. When someone else asked about the chances of promotion he wasn't as positive as i'd like. he was asked did 2-3 years seem like a realistic goal and he said yes certainly, perhaps even 1-2.. i'd like him to have said more aggresively that we think we can go up next season. Which i think we can. given all of our injury problems early on and the uselessness of cook and more recently jennings. perhaps should have asked a bit about this. far more whinging that cricket questions sadly.

next season lads - let's get back in div 1 where we belong :cool::cool:

straight off the bat they were told, quite rudely, that people at the back couldn't hear. this was repeated a few times, getting more aggressive until they came to sit in the middle 'we've waited a long time for you all to finally come out' etc

then after they moved to the middle a few who had been at the front complained they couldn't hear. then it was why don't they have microphones and just drivelling on. they had introduced by saying this was the second members forum of the season, some bright spark chirped up with how is this the second, nobody told us, we've all missed one, all because he considered the first one a meet the players not a members forum, why wasn't there one in april, there used to be three, now there is only two... it was so childish to begin with.

the first serious question just droned on for about 5 minutes in patronising, and ambigous fashion, i was sick of me life by the time jon lewis opened his mouth. a fair bit of sniping too, it was just generally quite ugly. first one i'd been to so didn't know what to expect and i considered walking out but i felt so sorry for steel sat there so i decided i'd stick me hand up and say well done to him and thanks for being a bright spark in a harder than expected season. that got a round of applause and thankfully it mellowed a bit after that but fuck me, no wonder lewis is guarded if he is treated like that.

yes the season has been hard, yes things aren't always perfect, perhaps some see the members forum as a time to air grieveances but there are ways of doing it, perhaps i'd rather have put complaints in writing and have a united front and we're all in this together attitude.

if cameron steel was asked by the rest of the team, as i'm sure he will be, how it went i wouldn't blame him for saying what a bunch of miserable, boring wankers we all are for the most part.

I went to the meeting as well and Twisted has summarised it very well. He's dead right about the start which was absolutely cringeworthy. I had my head in my hands at one point.

I have not been to one for a few seasons but is it still full of the lounge lizards from that bloody awful members lounge who sit there and moan through a days cricket anyway.

I told you this afternoon that I've been a member for 25 years and have never attended a single one of these meetings and now you know why.
I wasnt much of a fan of Midgeley but by God he was right about half the buggers who make up the membership.
Don't know why they dont just piss off down the road to Headingley and join up with the moaning old sods there.

I honesty believe that it is down to section of the members rather than the players why there has never been that close a bond between the two that you get at some other counties. I used to think it was because we moved to a test standard ground so early in our development as a first class county and lost that bit of togetherness but actually it down to the members.
 
There are some decent sorts who get in there but some f***ing awful ones anarl. I was quite surprised at the ones who left consoled to who started but maybe because all the sniping. Being me that would encourage me to stay and be a reasonable voice.. Although I guess that is easy to say after one forum

it wasn't too bad overall, not sure if @Top Cat will agree with this but once everyone stopped ganning on like spoilt bairns it was fine, enjoyable even but it just felt like the first half was a write off which spoilt potentially getting more info out, specifically about graham onions

Agreed. Once the initial pissing and moaning like 3 year olds was over what followed was pretty good. I always got the impression that Lewis was a bit evasive and long winded but once he had regained his composure he was quite open as was Steel. My impression with the Oniions situation was that, owing to injury, he hasn't played much this season and their going to look at how he performs in the last few CC games before making a decision.

Couple of other things have came to mind.

Lewis reckons the FTECB wage cap will have little affect on player retention/recruitment.

Harker was asked that given his involvement in the financial crisis should he not have resigned. He stated that he was gutted at what happened and offered to resign to both the Board and FTECB, who obviously both declined his offer.

aye, don't think we'll be getting anywhere near the salary cap personally so won't really affect us.

simple answer to why the financial situation arose - we don't get the income needed to run the club the way it was being done. that should have been obvious really but now imo what is done is done

EDIT: spot on re lewis anarl. that's why I wish I or someone had pressed him about bunny later on, that fella who asked that question that went on forever and lewis just didn't have a clue what he was on about, neither did I tbh
