essex boy

Just had a look at the leading test run scorers and recon barring injury Cook will easily catch Ponting and go second in the list over the next couple of years.

However, does anyone think he will try and play on until 38 lets say and catch Tendulkar?

If he is still fit enough,he should continue on for as long as he can

This.

Be mint if he could beat Tendulkar. The Indians would hate it, but Cook plays half his cricket in England where the ball does alsorts so he'll have earnt it!

True enough, what ever happens he Is a world class batsmen

Exactly, can't imagine how many runs he would have scored if he played in India

Its a point that always always gets missed, Cook, KP, Bell, whoever you want to mention, to have those averages and those records while playing half the runs in England is unreal. The experts never give credit to that when comparing people's records.

And opener, only player in the top 10 run scorers, hence lower avaerage

if he did that i have no doubt the Indian cricket board would look at every way they could add runs onto Sachin's record, probably even pick him for the test team again or have their current team play 20 tests a year till Kohli is 35!

To think folk were anchoring for him being dropped not so long ago:lol:

Brilliant player. Would love him to smash Sachins record, and without the burden of captaincy, I think he could go on long enough to do so.

A little off topic marra - but why were your boys wearing black armbands tonight?

Lad playing for Effingham CC suffered a heart attack in the week, was paying tribute to him.

Christ, that's awful.

I think the cricket authorities should offer clubs grants or subsidies for AED's actually.

There's a thing on now through the FA for grassroots football clubs.

Definitely, mate. Could happen at any time, to any one.

Had the lads face on the screen tonight, with his young family got complimentary tickets and there's a minute's silence across all games within the County at the weekend
