Learner drivers on motorways from next year

To be fair its not like instructors would be taking new starters straight on to the motor way. It will only be once they are up to scratch when they take them on so it shouldn't be an issue really.

My main gripe with driving is people who are clearly too old to still be on the roads but still have a licence. Was stuck behind some 80 odd year old bloke on the way to work tonight on a dual carriage way doing about 30-35mph. Didn't dare try over take him as he was swerving between the two lanes.

Hate driving me

  1. Nobody under 25 yo should be allowed a driving license.
  2. Any criminal or road traffic misdemeanour prior to attaining 25 yo would render the person ineligible for a license ..ever.
  3. Any misdemeanor post 25 yo would result in loss of license for life.
  4. Who cares about potential motorway infractions?

If it helps to stop middle lane wankers then it's a good idea.

That new bit of the A1 between Newcastle and Gateshead does my head in. So many people tootle along in the middle lane oblivious to the fact that they should have moved left.

Seems a good idea having motorway lessons before driving on the motorway. Might reduce accidents if people were taught how to use them properly.

I thought this was what the advanced driving courses taught you after you had passed your test?

I love driving on motorways but you have to be way more alert and I think less advanced drivers will get caught out by slip roads and other dodgy drivers.

The biggest education motorway drivers need is entering from a sliproad, amount of times ive avoided crashes because people thinkg they have a divine right to enter a motorway is unbelievable. You match the speed of the motorway and if its busy you stop, you don't just drive into a space that will cause people on the motorway near death.

Responsibilty on the person already on the motorway if he can see an issue. Ease off and let the person in to avoid him stopping at the end of a slip road.

Far less dangerous putting a learner driver on a motorway than a person who's been passed their test half an hour and they're by them self

Erm its not, theres clearly laws in place saying those entering give way
Of course it's the right thing to do. I know it's not what the highway code says but anyone with a brain can see someone sitting stationary at the end if a slip road is crazily dangerous.

I'd keep all the decrepit fogies off myself. Dangerous as anything, with their mole-like leaning over the steering wheel and 25mph max speed.
