New doctor who

The original Dr Who started to die when Tristan Farnon (PeterDavison) and Bonnie Langford came into it.
It became a parody of the show it had been.
I'm willing to give this lass a go.
It's not real you know. It's all made up.
:)
After years of Tom Baker it was a real hoof in the spuds

I'm disappointed they chose a generic soap bird as the first female mind, you need someone with a bit about them

Helen Mirren to play it straight, Tilda Swinton because she looks like an alien anyway or a wildcard like Tim Baker was...

Miriam Margolyes as Dr Who

Or Aubrey Plaza. She'd do a job

There was hell on yesterday over a female doctor. Id imagine the BBC pr machine would try avoid any more of that and, rightly or wrongly, introducing the female dr alongside a lesbian companion would have set people away claiming it was seeking an agenda
Overall the reaction has been really positive. You're being a bit daft marra.

She's never done a soap.

Jesus wept, your suggestions are two film stars, a goblin, and a yank.

I like it. All of those would work exactly as you say.

That short episode is class like. Paul Mcgann said that he got the call really short notice and went in and filmed it in a day. He's always wanted to do more.

At least i suppose they're all decent age still and in a year or two you could still pull off a cross over with Whitaker, capaldi, Smith, Mcgann, tennant and eccleston (if he could be persuaded)

Actually the BBC never intended it to be part of the tv world. It was just a cash in to do a film I think
I would have liked McGann to have become a proper Dr rather than just the special. I think he had the right blend of eccentric behaviour as well as the right look.

My favourite Dr to date is Tennant followed by Smith and then Tom Baker. The worst Dr was McCoy followed by Eccleston who thought he was too good for the part. The Dr with a Manc accent just didn't seem right to me, he was wrong for the part.

They are including the War Doctor as one The Doctor's past regenerations. Did you ever watch the mini episode The Night Of The Doctor, which basically explains how Paul McGann's Doctor became The War Doctor....

No I've never seen that before thanks for the link. I'll send it to my son he's a massive Dr who fan, the ones from Eccleston on that is. I didn't notice your post earlier and I've since said I really liked McCann as the Dr. He should have got a series and that short film proves it.

Down to budget cuts no doubt
That is the reason they Stranded him. Earth is cheap the planet Zargon is pricey.

Nerd alert but a few years back I was off sick for a few months with glandular fever, basically just exhausted all the time. Couldn't really read or watch tv but went through all the big finish doctor who audio plays with Paul Mcgann and Sheridan smith. Some of them are excellent and am surprised they haven't been adapted on the tv show since.

Well worth checking out if you like that kinda thing

I haven't seen a single person demanding it went to a woman like
So you haven't seen the on line hysteria from PC groups, actors who've been in the show and even MPs?

I'm hoping she does come back, the episode where she cracks on to the new doctor and there's a bit girl on girl action will really spice things up!
Given the new female doctor, there will be be plenty of the show's fan boys w*nking into a crusty sock

And The Night of The Doctor basically made it all cannon in one line! So plenty of possibilities for the future

I was talking about this today with Mrs S and I said why do women want to be independent from men if all they do is copy what we do? We've always had football, cricket, rugby etc and it would appear that girls are abandoning traditional sports like netball etc to play these. I made the mistake of saying that it's hardly girl power if all you do is copy the men. It didn't go down well.

The Doctor has always been played by a bloke so they demanded the role went to a woman, not for her acting skills presumably. Like I said before, the PC brigade have achieved their aims and will move on to the next fight, without ever watching the show. Ultimately though, the modern show is rubbish, so whatever the BBC do, it will eventually be cancelled as ratings have been terrible for a few years and having a woman play the role means there will have to be a massive improvement in the stories if it's going to make past another series.

It's been great on Twitter where anybody who was less than enthusiastic was deemed to a "hater" and hounded like they had committed some kind of criminal offence.

Better to keep out of that.

Yep. It will be interesting to see if the uptake in girl female viewers exceeds the drop in boy male viewers. That said I don't think Capaldi was ever destined to be a big success in terms of viewing figures. Hasn't really been the same since Tennant was the doctor

Why would girls want to watch another girl playing the Doctor? Unless they are gay, I suppose.

Capaldi has been a brilliant Doctor, up there with the best, and I think that he still had a lot to give. David Tennant turned into 'my pet Doctor', over his last couple of seasons and became too humanified. Matt Smith was a waste of oxygen. Ecclestone has been my favourite out of the new Doctors. And Jon Pertwee is my favourite out of the old Doctors.

So basically, you watched the fiftieth anniversary special and based your opinion on that. You definitely haven't watched the original series if you think McCoy was the 'worst.'
