They've unsurprisingly been found wanting. Laughable think they would stand up to the Aussies away from home.
Drop them both, bring in Hales to open Root 3, Bairstow 4 and Buttler to keep wicket. Proven quality rather than more trialists.
Dawson dropped for Rashid.
Or Abbott hadn't jacked in test cricket to become a Kolpak.
This Duanne bloke is a dobber.
Bairstow
Very poor batting display, some of our batsmen (most of them) need to learn the basics, T20 skills do not transfer into the test arena.Never mind lads
they play their own way with freedom to express themselves...unless they are behind in any way . Like I said earlier it is disappointing that test teams don't know how to bat for long periods without folding within a session.
Why do batsmen who clearly arent good enough keep being given chances
Ballance is f***ing hideous
Dawson isnt up to much
Same for jennings
England are bang average as it stands
Buttler and Rashid? They've unsurprisingly been found wanting. Laughable think they would stand up to the Aussies away from home.

We've gone backwards if anything, our recent test record is nothing short of shocking.Mentality of the batsmen is all wrong, we have made no strides as a test team under Bayliss IMO.

Fully agreed, Nasser has got it absolutely bang on especially.Vaughan and Hussain are spot on, it's a bit of a widespread thing now due to T20, but England are simply not playing good test cricket too regularly now, and the main issue is the batting and the manner of dismissals.
hales & buttler proven quality
It feels that way to be honest mate, we certainly aren't any better in the test arena. Michael Vaughan has hit the nail on the head for me today when he said that no one is prepared to make ugly runs. Only Cook is suited to doing that, the rest are either not good enough (Ballance, Dawson, possibly Jennings at this stage), or try and hit their way out of trouble (Stokes, Root, Ali).
Dawson should be nowhere near the side, Ballance neither, and if he ever is in the team then not a chance should he be batting at 3, Jennings is woefully out of form and Wood needs to do more.
Our batting line-up is unbalanced and irresponsible.

Vaughan also says the exact opposite every other week. Contradicts himself at every turn
Nass spot on
Clue 3: he's been to VietnamClue 2: the burning hatred of Michael Vaughan.
Definitely Johnson.
All 3 are proven at international level, good characters, match winners and are still improving albeit the shorter versions of the game.
I don't see anyone better, they deserve another chance at test cricket over the 3 average chokers we've picked.
Obviously none of the 3 would be much kop in a backs to the wall situation like to today but if one of them came off we wouldn't have been in this dire position.
None of them are test quality
Good cricketers but need some tougher and more patient cricketers
These are just more of the same
Disagree about them being test quality although the jury is out on Hales, but I wholeheartedly agree with your second point, we need some grit and concentration, not more dashers.
Ballance might have been ok at 5 but they have stitched him up twice
He was called up to soon last year whilst out of form and he's now been placed out of position
He will never recover from this I reckon
