Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

No bias or piss taking, if Rafa doesn't get what he wants he will be away. I'm not even sure he really wants to be there. He's fast become yesterday's man and may only have one last chance at a decent job.

I said it last year, he's the next Sven, blagging jobs on mega wages purely because of his name. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the Chinese leagues next year on a mega bucks deal to see him into retirement.

Spot on. He's only there because nobody wants him.

"From Lee Ryder in the Chronicle Live Blog:
Spent a little bit of time with Rafa Benitez at the Academy today. While the club have been frustrated with the lack of done deals Rafa seemed in good spirits. Seems very determined to get players in and said the club were working hard to make that happen. The summer window is certainly testing Newcastle right now but seems to be a belief they will get what they need this summer. Newcastle still have deals on the table for players so it’s very much a case of watch this space."

Lee Ryder :lol::lol:

No, that's not what I'm saying. Nice try though.

Why do you wilfully misrepresent facts? Benitez had a squad with players who didn't want to play in the Championship (Sissoko, Wijnaldum) and so left. He needed to replace those players. He also inherited a squad with players who weren't fit for purpose (Riviere, Saivet et al) he needed to replace those players.

Once those players left, we didn't have "the best squad" at all. Not even close. We didn't have a single recognised right back at the club, nor a right winger, a left winger, we had little depth up front, on the wings, at full back, at centre back. So he spent £55m on 11 players to address those shortcomings and deliver not only automatic promotion at the first time of asking, but the title to boot.

He signed the players to deliver automatic promotion, the players he signed delivered that. It was too much of a gamble to sign a squad of young lads with potential. Some of the players he signed are capable in the top flight, some were just for that campaign. It would be gross mismanagement to gamble the future of a football club on the shoulders of "young lads with potential", this isn't Football Manager.

Benitez wants to spend money on good players for this league, what a unique and outrageous position he's taken.

Just be honest with yourself Banks, Benitez is patently a good manager but you can't admit that because he's the Newcastle manager. Just purely because of his association to the club that is your club's local rival you must heap scorn upon him, for fear or... well I guess for fear of appearing less of a Sunderland supporter to your peers on here. Which is a bit silly when you step back and think about it?

No, Pearson isn't as good a manager as Rafa Benitez. Of course we wouldn't want Nige over Rafa.

Had Allardyce failed to find the 2 points that kept you up, would you want to swap him for Di Canio?

How can he be a good manager if he Rafagated ye? Ye colossal Bell.......

Looks like it's only a matter of time imo. Doesn't appear to be getting the backing he asked for and wouldn't blame him if he walked. Cheap cunts R us, still living in 2007 regarding transfer fees.
So he will have left you exactly as he found you, and you wouldn't blame him if he walked.

From Rafa's diary ...
Got stalked at work today by a bloke from the local rag. Couldn't get rid of him for ages despite me telling him there's nowt doing on transfers. Eventually I told him there's a meal on the table for the players. He seemed happy, wrote something in his book and left smiling. They're a strange bunch these Geordie types"...

74 pages. Fans of a club managed by Simon Grayson, with a career high finish of below the Championship playoffs, calling Rafa Benitez

Just the 15 trophies at 8 clubs. 2 La Liga titles, 1 FA cup, 3 Italian cups, Champions League, World Club Cup etc.

Give it up lads

Spoke to someone high up in the club today. Rafa leaving etc is all pressure to get Ashley to get people through the door quickly. They have a couple of players in the pipeline.
Disappointing but true.

£55m spent last season in the Championship, £75m the season before that.

"It is said the manager is trying his best to keep his emotions in check - the support of the club's fans remains his motivation....."

Vomit inducing

 No better than anywhere else he's managed.

Are the mags the corniest supporters in the world? They're worse than americans.
