Last night was bad enough with the heat, but was kept awake by a dull ache around my right hip.no matter what position I lay in it kept coming back.anyone had similar or can recommend something to try and ease it?it's still there this morning and seems to ease when I'm moving about

I get it too. It's the start of a deteriorating hip joint, I reckon.
That I did not want to hear.my dad is awaiting his 2nd hip replacement and had a nightmare with his first.they fitted the wrong type which lead to blood poisoning etc.

I used to wake with an ache in my left hip now and again a few year ago but just thought it was from lying on that side.

About 2 and a half year ago I started getting pain in my right side groin and and hip and quite quickly developed arthritis, then about 1 year ago the left started hurting and very quickly became the more painful.

I'm currently waiting surgery to have both hips replaced, left first then right once I recover.

Doctors put me off for 2 years and wouldn't refer me to specialists, or even send me for a second x ray saying I was roo young and they wouldn't do surgery, then when they finally did the orthopedic surgeon asked me why I left it so long.

In my case it happened really fast, my first x ray only showed very minor signs of rhe start of arthritis.

Hope it all works out for you

I'm at that second stage now, so expecting it to worsen. The only consolation I have is that local hospital was awarded the title of best in class for its hip operations. I only ever hear good things about it.

Try not to let a negative experience cloud your expectations of getting a decent replacement. Good luck with it. I expect it'll be a fair while before you reach that stage.
