If you check his career he has had one bad season out of 10 as a manager. The first year at Bristol he went in when they were adrift at the bottom and saved them. The next year he was sacked when they were again at the bottom. With his other jobs he took St Johnstone to the SPL and kept them there and has done a great job at Aberdeen. Not saying he's right for the job but he has a good managerial record and sounds as good as anyone else mentioned and better than some.

No he doesn't.

McInnes has been a manager for 10 seasons, 9 of which it appears were successful. Schwarz has never managed. Most top footballer don't make good managers it tends to be the really average footballers who go on to make decent managers. I'd love Schwarz to come and be a success but it is a bigger risk - I know every manager at our place is a risk - look at MON, Moyes failing despite good careers. I think McInnes would be a decent choice and I think Schwarz would be an interesting choice - the key is that the fans get behind whoever is appointed. I get that you don't trust Bain but you need to make sure that doesn't mean you turn against a manager just because he's Bain's choice.

But he was a massive failure in the league we are going in.

Nothing annoys me that people just getting in people they know, or a specific criteria. How about look for the best candidate, and expressions of interest.

Ex Rangers academy manager as Bain knew him, then his ex manager Walter Smith chooses the manager, I mean ffs man.

Teams who have been successful, like Southampton and co, they find the best man, just not who they know.

You're right.
That plank Ferguson won loads up there with Aberdeen, meant fuck all.

in 1986

Why do people think Fergie 30 years ago has absolutely any relevance on anything, it doesn't, not even the slightest.

You've got to wonder about this place at times. He's been excellent at Pittodrie against teams with far superior budgets.

And he left Bristol 10 points from safety

No he hasn't . You have made that up.

What number do you live at and we can work out either side which door he can knock on............you can then repeat it Maybe that's why you stated that you "currently" live near. Alternatively drop Stewart Milne (Aberdeen chairman) a line and see what response you get.

For the record he is absolutely professional, ambitious and driven to succeed ........in England. That is why he rejected the opportunity to go to Rangers after the Warburton debacle.

Sunderland fans calling Aberdeen a pub league team... They havent won a major trophy in over 40 years. Fuck me, we have won 15 major trophies, including two European trophies in that time !! Sunderland fans and the like, are classic examples of teams who play in multi million pound leagues and because of that, think they are somehow more successful or a bigger club. Wankers!

The pub league that is dominated by Celtic. The same pub league team that goes through Champions League Qualifying and who have seen off AC Milan, Man Utd, Liverpool and Barcelona at various group stages whilst us Sunderland "fans" languish in our self pity and excel at playing the role of victim to perfection.

But we are the best fans in the world..............like fuck.

They are a pub team in a pub league.

Maybe - but Aberdeen, Hearts, etc would be decent Championship teams. Scottish football has been screwed due to budgets. They cunningly turned down a Sky contract years a go that would have kept them competitive

It is not that much of a step up from Aberdeen, in the present circumstances. It is a step up, but not prohibitively so

No they wouldn't :lol::lol::lol:

What I mean, is if they were playing in England they would have the fanbase etc to compete in the Championship, not that the current squads would

Yeah he might of but we are not Man U who still had loads of money to spend even back then, we have nowt, it will end up bringing in a load of shit players from Scotland and him getting sacked within a year and end up with yet more players we can't get rid off

That's the worry imo....that his "knowledge base" is almost exclusively Scottish and most of his signings come from their leagues. Not saying their aren't good players up there but as we've seen with the two way traffic we've been engaged in (Matthews, Kyle, Stokes, Waghorn etc) there's obviously a huge quality issue in the Scottish leagues.

I'd be interested to find out what kind of a manager he is. The character is more important than the name for this appointment. We need someone hungry, someone who will build a young (hopefully pacey) side, someone happy to attack teams wouldn't go amiss and, after Moyes, I would like to see someone the players want to play for, maybe fairly passionate on the touchline. If he's like that then I'll be happy, if he's nearer to Paul Lambert I'll be gutted!

Not going to get into the slagging of Aberdeen or their league, they are a fairly big club to be fair and the few fans of theirs I've met have been canny. My concern though is that, with Rangers out of the picture and now still trying to get back together, he doesn't seem to have done anything to stand out. Win one cup, came second in the league (miles off the pace, albeit Celtic are hard to challenge), can't remember them having any particularly inspiring European runs. Has he really been a massive success or has he largely been the right man at the right time with Rangers struggling? If we go for him I'll give him a chance mind, again if he's at least a bit passionate it might make watching us less of a chore even if we still don't win many!

At last some sense among the bed wetting.

Well said.
