I agree with that in principle but winning £100m is a bit of a game changer. I'd like my son (and the rest of my family) to live a life of luxury. To be able to have things and do things that previously just weren't possible.

they probably could have done.. I'd imaginethe day would have paid for holidays etc. or sue of a holiday home.

it appears the lad just got stupid, greedy and expected it on a plate

Peter Jones has the best idea. (Dragons Den)
His kids are grown up, so he said I'll double your salary, unless you work in the public service (nurse, police etc) then I'll quadruple it.

Don't give anyone a lumper, put the money in trust and pay them an increased salary for the rest of their life.
If a relative on mine won 100 mill and said that they'd double my salary for the rest of my life, that'd do me.

Most of us are probably sitting here today, counting the days to the next pay day. So, to get the same money again for ever, would pay for holidays, cars and lifes little luxuries without having to go out and get some stressful, pressurised, responsible position.

It would be like having a job you could never get sacked from.

That lanky bloke from Dragons Den has the best idea for sharing his wealth with his children.

Whatever they earn themselves he matches, but if they do a job of service like nursing etc then they get even more. The harder they work the more money they get. Workshy wasters would get nowt, It's a great idea.

I just saw the post saying the same thing. Sorry.

Have a like for that anyway mate. Cos you have a nice smile.

It's not about that though. I think the father was more than generous. It is the profligate nature of his son. Throwing more money at a fool is not generous and it does the fool no good.
I know you don't think taking your family to court over money that isn't yours is f***ing bang out of order too...

I think this too.

If I won a load of money I'd be looking at giving a large amount to my family, but would look at the best way to do it. I have two nephews aged 18 and 20. Say I give them £2m each at that age, what would they do? They might be mature with it or they might piss it all up the wall, missing out on a lot of the life experiences we have as we grow into adults, pick up a load of hangers on who just want a slice (like those who became Gazza's 'friends') then wake up one day in their 30s alone in a big house wondering how the hell they ended up there.

I love them to bits so there is two sides to it. One is giving them the financial stability and experiencing things in life you only can with sufficient funds and the other is wanting them to grow into well balanced adults. I'd probably be discussing with my sister the best way forward or give her the funds to release through to them.

I'm never likely to be rich, so I can't see it being a problem for me!

Let's remember that half that money belongs to his wife, who is not the mother of said leech. His Dad gave him 2% of his half which he managed to spend in 4 month. If he let him carry on at that rate he would have beggared his dad within 16 year, that's before you take into account any other friends and family he was providing for and himself of course.

I'm still trying to work out this bit

By March 2013, Michael and Mr Beedle were told some of their debts would be paid off "but there would be nothing more".

This came after Mrs Dawes' 49th birthday party in November 2013, when a drunken row broke out between the father and son.

People saying they'd give their cousins a million quid each ffs

I'd sort my mam and dad out obviously, my grandad too (although he probably wouldn't want anything) - the rest could get to fuck. I'd be too busy travelling the world and enjoying myself to worry about some Aunt or cousin calling me tight.
