Ah well that's alright then.

The police and social workers should be strung up for letting thousands of girls suffer years of abuse.
 I never said that man. But it's no good demonising the police force en masse. Inquiries have been held and probably still ongoing.

I`m shocked the BBC have made this film - I haven't seen it but were the words islam or muslims ever used in the film?

Unbelievable isn't it, we've made some of the work mistakes imaginable but it's ok as we've arrested some people now.
I don't think anyone is saying it's ok but it's a matter of where do we go from here? What do we do? Dismiss the town's entire social services provision en bloc and rehire a complete new one? Believe it or not, Rotherham social services was usually spoken of in high regard before all this came out and despite what happened it pretty much still is. There are dedicated people working in Rotherham.

I don't doubt they were spoke of in a high regard, they were covering up all the problems. They are held in such high regard to this day they were put under special measures and taken over by the government, the hallmark of a well run department.

A quick google shows they weren't held in high regard;

Do you work at Rotherham social services?

Well it's not all of them is it. It's no good demonising the authorities. Obviously these girls were failed initially but there has been convictions since.

Sorry like but you are way off the mark.

Handling by the authorities of the Rochdale scandal was nothing short of a disgrace. A mix of apathy, fear of aggravating racial tension, lack of care for under-privileged and vulnerable girls and rank incompetence by jobsworth social service workers contributed to something that could have been nipped in the bud very quickly.

Not sure what you are getting at here? What lie are people supporting?
quite simple if you understand my initial post re some lapping it up and the daily mail

it confirms some of their inbred prejudice

eg "the usual I know someone fiddling so all people on benefit are scum"

immigrants, young lasses on benefits

it's a perfect show to reinforce their and the daily mails view

Inbred prejudice of what? Just because we have a small minority of racists doesn't mean we should paper over what went on and shy away from the issues that exist in the communities were these crimes occurred all over the country.

It was a rather grim watch but I knew that would be the case given the subject matter. I'm not sure if I can watch the next two episodes as it made Happy Valley look like Only Fools and Horses.

Bizarre how people found it so hard viewing they couldn't watch. Aye the subject matter is a bit grim but it's a TV drama about things we are already well aware of and featured nothing graphic.

Think some people are confusing Rochdale in Lancashire with Rotherham in South Yorkshire. The main thing it shows was how the police and social services blamed the girls because of their lifestyle describing them as 'child prostitutes' . The Maxine Peake character called it right when she said there is no such thing as a child prostitute just an abused child.

there are so many of these muslim grooming gangs operating in the UK today I`m surprised this isn't a 50 part dramatisation

Whilst you're correct, they were both part of a bigger picture that were eventually joined up.
