Not saying you have to merge straight away, but if there isn't much of a queue you should. Constantly the one over the water has a couple of cars in lane and you still get dicks in the outside lane racing round to merge in at the last second and cut out 5 seconds of their time and 3-4 cars lengths. Meanwhile as they try to cut in they cause problems for the cars who are already in lane as they have to slam their breaks on as these idiots suddenly cut across the lane from nowhere.

I'm fine if they want to use the outside lane, but then they should wait to be let in. Which, if they haven't been dicks most will do.

She can use the lane as fully as she wants, but she should then wait to be let in by those in the correct lane. She does not have right of way as she is merging into another lane with cars who have the right of way.
the highway code recommends taking turns from the inside and outside lane, I take that as no one having right of way over the other. It's the driver 'not letting her in' who's behaviour is going against the highway code and therefore in the wrong IMO.

Bullshit. So the code says that you should just drive right up to the cones and then just drive into the other lane not giving 2 fucks who is in it and THEY have to adjust their driving to compensate you? Don't be daft.

It's a merge. The outside lane is merging INTO the other lane who have right of way. If you are in the outside lane you indicate over (even if it's right at the last second) and wait to be let in. If you haven't been a dick drivers will let you in, like this guy had done to cars before the Audi driver.
Its basic driving rules.

Where does he Highway Code say turney eachey applies?

And let's say it does. The bloke may well have been in the wrong but that still doesn't give her right to do what she did. This morning a bike when flying through a red light as I turned right. He broke the Highway Code, but that doesn't give me the right to crash into him .

she did give two fucks, she indicated as to be transparent as possible she's following the rules, it was the driver filming who accelerated who caused this issue.

I posted it earlier.

well no she didn't have the right to crash into him, obviously, but thats really after the point we're discussing and is a one off incident. What we're talking about is the rules up until that point.

You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.

Merge In turn when safe and appropriate to do so. Which in this case it wasn't as he didn't want to let her in.

Don't see turney eachey mentioned.

appropriate relates to the speed, these were doing the very low speeds approaching road works as detailed in the highway code as the right time to use merge in turn.

bold point: what do you think is meant to 'in turn'?

Which the van done. He let people in and then waited his turn before this silly fuck decided she had a divine right to be next in line above everyone else and tried to move into an already full lane without due care.

And was fine up until that point. Don't see many disagreeing. She went into wrong the moment she continued to attempt to get into the lane when it wasn't possible due to him stopping her.

Everyone knows why he did it as he thought she was taking the piss, waiting until the last moment to get in. Deep down we all know why she did what she did and it had fuck all to do with the Highway Code and her understanding of it, it was because she couldn't be arsed to wait.

She could clearly see he had let some one in.

Good on the van driver. Too many selfish fuckers out there who think they can just scoot up the outside lane (in roadworks or not) and indicate to get in at the last minute.

it's irrelvant if he let people in further up the road. Whats the cut off distance for letting people across before you think you can just fuck everyone off who uses the other lane? What if the car coming along the outside hasn't seen you let other people across?

You still have to wait until it is safe to do so. In this Instant it wasn't safe to do so as he had refused to let her in. It's basic stuff.

It's not tho. Just indicating does not mean everyone else has to get our of your way, like some (yourself?) seem to think it does. It's an indicator of what you are PLANNING to do (when safe to). She was merging into the lane, it was not safe to do so yet she went anyways causing the problem.

She should have indicated and waited for it to be safe to move over and then done so.

She shouldn't have been put in the position she was to act like that, he should have given way to her.

Bold: as you're meant to? As to ease congestion further back up the road?

so he acts recklessly and it's her fault?
