It was her that needed to give way and filter into his lane not the other way around, people who think it's their god given right to just pull in are twats!

Correct.

The fella filming. She had every right to use the full space in the outside lane then merge in turn. The fact he let someone in earlier is irrelevant.

But she has to wait to be let in when it is safe to do so.
Not barge-in as she tried to do.

Correct.

it was safe to do so, they're moving at slow speed, it was the fella filming who acted dangerously like he had a right to block her. You're meant to take turns, as I said, the fact he let someone in earlier is irrelevant.

Lane discipline: 134
You should follow the signs and road markings and get into the lane as directed. In congested road conditions do not change lanes unnecessarily. Merging in turn is recommended but only if safe and appropriate when vehicles are travelling at a very low speed, e.g. when approaching road works or a road traffic incident. It is not recommended at high speed.

No safe gap -so she shouldn't have went.
Again, she should have waited until it was safe for her to manoeuvre.
Up to the inside lane drivers to let in the outside lane drivers.
In a perfect world, yes it would work like a "zipper" but not on this occasion - van man did not give her the opportunity to move safely, so she should have waited until it was safe to move.

Bloke in the van initially. You're supposed to drive up to the cones in both lanes and merge in turn as the sign on the left states, which the Audi tried to do. She doesn't know he's not going merge in turn because he let a Ford in further back.

Audi driver goes on like a total knob though and it's a complete waste of police time.

Totally the womans fault trying to just barge her way in. Yes you can use both lanes but she is joining into HIS lane and must thus give way to them until space to merge over. This seems to be the thing some arsehole drivers seem to forget and think they can just push over and everyone has to give way to them.

The bloke has done what he should do and let traffic merge in. This bint then flies to the front of the queue and expects everyone to just stop to let her in. What was he supposed to do, just stop his lane of traffic totally until he lets everyone in the outter lane get infront?

Yes, you can use both lanes but it's common f***ing curtesy to merge in as soon as you can and stop trying to just push to the front like this dosy cow tries. You get this shit over the Queen Alexander constantly with dipshits going round the outter lane and then trying to push over at the last second before the bridge. Anyone with half a brain can see that the road is fucked up and it's better for all to just get into lane early to stop any hassles/crashes. Yet some think it's better to race everyone off the line and try to push in at the last second causing f***ing chaos behind them, just so they can bypass a car or two...

there wasn't a safe gap because he accelerated and blocked her out, he shouldn't have, he was being petty.

It's not up to inside lane drivers, it's merge in turn.

She moved quick enough for someone whose foot had been run over.

A bit shrill as well. I can imagine the husband buying her an Audi just to get her out of the house.

The amount of people who clearly don't know how to bloody drive is scary or even the basic bloody rules of the road. If there had been a brick wall at the end insead of cones, what would she have had to do? She would have had to wait until someone let her in. This is no different.

You're fighting a losing battle.

Not true ,the Use both lanes bit is the clue ,having everyone into one lane half a mile before the two narrow isn't what it's about .
The people on the right can get in at the others discretion, if you get a knacker who won't let you in you have to wait .
We don't shout and gesticulate when cars are passing us on the dual carriageway but the go mental at places like this when one gets in front
Or just merge earlier.

.
it's the complete opposite but OK. Merging well in advance and causing one long queue with nothing it the other lane blocks roundabouts and junctions further back, the whole reason merge in turn and using the full road is recommended in the highway code.

She still should have waited to be let in and not barged in

Which everyone agrees with. The whole point is that when you drive you shouldn't assume anything. She assumed that once she reached the cones she has a god given right to be allowed into the left hand lane, and she doesn't.

He was in the correct lane for moving forward, she has to come into his lane, so she has to wait until someone lets her in. If there was no cones and she suddenly thought shit, I need to go left she wouldn't just turn her car left into his to get to the other side without someone allowing her to do so.

Then again.....

It's not 'barging in' it's using the full use of the road and attempting to merge in turn when directed by the cones as she's meant to, until she encountered a petty driver.
The petty driver is a different agruement

you're not really getting this merge in turn thing are you? It's recommended in the highway code to act as she did. Are we just making our own rules of the road now?

Not saying you have to merge straight away, but if there isn't much of a queue you should. Constantly the one over the water has a couple of cars in lane and you still get dicks in the outside lane racing round to merge in at the last second and cut out 5 seconds of their time and 3-4 cars lengths. Meanwhile as they try to cut in they cause problems for the cars who are already in lane as they have to slam their breaks on as these idiots suddenly cut across the lane from nowhere.

I'm fine if they want to use the outside lane, but then they should wait to be let in. Which, if they haven't been dicks most will do.

She can use the lane as fully as she wants, but she should then wait to be let in by those in the correct lane. She does not have right of way as she is merging into another lane with cars who have the right of way.

Show me in the Highway Code, where it states that you just barge into someone else lane without due care and attention. The Highway Code says you can overtake cars when safe to do, not just overtake because you feel the urge . The Highway codes says loads of things but you still have to use common sense and due care and attention.

No one is saying she didn't follow the rule correctly until she got to the point when she attempted to enter a lane where a car was already there. If she had driven into the side of the van then she would have been in the wrong. There was already a car in that space, she has to wait until someone allows her to enter into that space.

Like I've said people can argue all day about if he should have let her in or not. But, the moment he decided that he wasn't going to then she had no right at all to keep moving into his lane as it isn't safe to do so.

Bullshit. So the code says that you should just drive right up to the cones and then just drive into the other lane not giving 2 fucks who is in it and THEY have to adjust their driving to compensate you? Don't be daft.

It's a merge. The outside lane is merging INTO the other lane who have right of way. If you are in the outside lane you indicate over (even if it's right at the last second) and wait to be let in. If you haven't been a dick drivers will let you in, like this guy had done to cars before the Audi driver.

 They all love speeding up to stop people merging.
