Running Thread 2017

Good luck , which club did you join ?

Well that was a bit of a damp squip. Turned up and 2 of my team had cried off so didnt get a run.

Stopped and watched the races and it was great to see runners of all abilities and sizes running.

There is not many sports where an olympian athlete - laura weightman - runs against your average runner. She must have won by about 2 mins in the first lap

Steve Cram was there and his encouragement for the lesser runners was great to see.

Lot of time for Crammy.
I remember doing Saltwell in the pissing rain a few years back and he was trotting the wrong way round giving out loads of encouragement to individuals and to all.

50.12 at North Tyneside 10k today. A new pb but wanted to get under 50 which is my aim this year.

A great race, 1st time i have done it considering i live in whitley bay.

Its fab when the kids are a bit older and can be left in the house so no longer have to alternate races with the missus.....

Well, after a couple of years not running. I'm giving it another go.

Have had 3 issues In the past and hope they don't stop me. Just aiming to get up to 5k and do that 3 times a week.

Achilles injury
Knee injury
Arthritis in my floor

Been walking the dog for over two years now for miles with no issues so fingers crossed. It's the arthritis I'm more concerned about.

Don't worry too much about arthritis, most of the stuff you'll hear about it is utter bollocks with absolutely no facts to back it up.

Have a read of this http://www.arthritis.org/living-with-arthritis/exercise/arthritis-friendly/running.php

I couldn't do 10km in about 50 hours now after the weekend I've had. Still hungover...

Cackbabble! I did 2 parkruns on New Years day in a combined time of 55 minutes & the fumes coming off me could have been ignited. You've just been carbing up in liquid form ;)

Ran last night and while my foot is sore it's not too bad. Guess as I build up distance it will either get too sore to run or I'll get to 5k.

Last few days before London marathon on Sunday. Starting to feel a bit fitter now after 5 weeks back running but won't be pushing it too hard and trying to just enjoy the atmosphere.

Did Boston UK at weekend 3:43 new PB by 15 minutes is flat route but pretty boring fields full of cabbages and cauliflowers, but small 400+ runners so not much negotiation required at the start. Last three miles were a struggle missed weeks of training showed, but thankfully beat the minion and tiger juggling their way round which is always a bonus.

There was at least one of Sunderland strollers in it saw their vest up in front at the start.

Got the Sunderland half in couple weeks but will be doing that at 13.00 minute miles with our lass so should be recovered for it, then back into training for Yorkshire in October.

I looked at doing Boston UK though was put off by folk saying it was all very open and if you got a windy day it could be curtains for a good time. Well done on your PB.

2nd run completed and for some of if there was pain in the foot.

Gutted. Managed to keep going but doesn't look good for getting to 5k if it's hurting already.

Might see the doc and see if there is anything that can help. When they said it was arthritis they said there was nothing they could do so not hopeful.

Had stomach muscle strain which goes on to pelvis and connected to groin, still struggling with tight groin, 6 weeks out more or less and lost all fitness built up over winter, how annoying.

psoas ? Ive had that and its a bugger to get rid of unless you take quite a bit of rest - even the stretch isn't easy and getting it massaged is a beast of a job !! Good luck.

Yes its basically all open fields so would be bad if windy, having said that isnt that the case in most places.

Legs recovering going to try and do a slow 4 miler today.
