BTW I did spot something truly horrific advertised in this place. Following the current trend of all different types of takeaways offering piles of shite in pizza boxes, they do a 'fish shop pizza box deal'. From what I can gather it is a battered sausage, kebab meat, chips, curry sauce and something else in batter for about eight pund. Absolutely minging.

Pakoras I think. Saw a picture on bellend book last week.
 
Fancied trying that new place down the East End but it was heaving with morons buying crab sticks and they were taking the piss with those.

Being owa the dark side i was going to try the highly recommended Fountains. Queue was absolutely f***ing ridiculous like. Changed my mind and went to The Torrens Fish Bar along the road. Was quite busy, even a couple of pensioners in the queue. £5 for fish lot, batter was offered and accepted.

Well what a massive disappointment that was. Fish seemed to be poor quality, no real big chunks just thin straggly bits. Chips were crap. Really wish I'd waited at Fountains. On Good Friday aswell:cry: Jesus didn't die for this shit. 3/10

We did have a happy dog like, she got some fish and loads of chips

On good Friday too. The Lord jesus himself will be gutted.
 
Time for some redemption after not realising how bad posting on Sunday was.

Tonight I went to Paul's @thespitfire in Thornaby.

Queue was out the door and a couple of pensioners in queue so had high hopes. Was disappointed to find once inside they done pizzas, kebabs and parmos but I had waited 15 mins so wasn't gonna give up.

Fish and chips was priced at £6 exactly. The chips on the plate was not even half of what was given , the portion was huge. Fish was a decent size and tasted good. Scraps (I do correct them that it's batter) was offered and accepted but were put in a separate bag and I'd took the photo before opening them

All in all a solid 7.5 out of 10 , far too many chips though and I feel fat as owt for having chippy twice in less than a week but it's good Friday.

Good effort dave but the photography needs some work. The attempt at an arty angular shot of the chippy frontage doesn't work and if that's a money shot then heaven help us.

The pic of shop was me trying to do it discretely and it went wrong and I was in a bit of a rush with the others as I was starving and the missus was looking at me funny for taking them . She doesn't understand the lads on the internet want to see a money shot of a fish.

Will do better next time but after 2 chippys this week it may be a while
