first work day so commute of the year under the belt. warm, humid and they closed of a few streets in town that i use due to putting in a tram line so had to make it up as i went along but still better than the bus.

I rode to and from work the other day, it was neither warm nor humid and they hadn't closed any roads.
It was pitch black in both directions and my crackers were frozen by the time I got to work and also when I got home the next morning.

Just serviced my bike at the weekend - very much a part timer though. I intend to start commuting in April when it gets light here and might look for something different - I was thinking of one of those cyclocross/adventure type jobs.

I also intend to arrange a ride around Lake Geneva over a couple of days.

You talking about intrepid routes up into the hills or those urban routes i see riders on just above lake level. We see them as we're heading back to the airport. Look great for training. No idea what condition the track surface is like. Could get a good few miles in round the lake.

They opened a proper route recently which does a bit of climbing to keep off main roads nut not too much! Apparently you get some great views when you are over the eastern side of the lake above Vevey.

I did it a couple of years ago and pootled around at lake level basically doing some slow cycling between drinking sessions, however one of the lads who did it with us took off into France to do one of the TDF climbs. He missed his valley on the way back to the lake so had to do another TDF like climb! That is the good thing about the route, us knackers can just do the easy route around the lake and the hardcore can disappear off up the Jura and Alp foothills if they want and everyone meets back up for a pissup!

Didn't get into The Transcontinental, so I'm f***ing bikes off and going fishing this year. Might do London Edinburgh London on a fixie though.

:eek::lol:

Mooching on Strava recently...Ingrid injured ? Don't see much trace of her( or Steve Gordon for that matter) clocking the winter base miles like they have in the past

got a new turbo trainer for xmas, put my back out on boxing day - turbo trainer therefore still in its box

so much for the 'at least 30 mins a day everyday' plan

:neutral:

Some tips anyone?

I’m quite unfit, in an aerobic exercise sense, and I want to start cycling again.

Has anyone got any tips for starting out (how many miles etc?)

Cheers
