Had some the other day at Stanhope Old hall, I commented to my mate that it took me back to my child hood when my mar cooked egg and chips and I had it with best butter and white sliced bread, fantastic...

My Mam used to make the best chips with a deep fat fryer - crinkly and really crispy and I think she used beef dripping. However I've never had a deep fat fryer as I can't stand the smell of hot fat (even when I came home from Mam's I could smell the fat on my clothes.) So perfect chips remain a distant memory for me now.

I dont know what my mar used for our chips but the taste was fantastic
