South America

Few that I did that haven't been mentioned, Galapagos, perito Moreno glacier (trip down through the Chilean fjords and volcanos to here is amazing), salt flats

I'm going in blind so will be planning on the fly. I can pretty much stay out there as long as I want so will try and fit in as much as possible. The trail is expensive, is it not? It wouldn't bother me but the lass I'm going with is on a tighter budget, I think.

The trail needs to be booked in advance as there are limited places. Not sure about price but it's cheaper if you carry all your own gear.

Think Salar de Uyuni is similar.

Not a hidden gem and mentioned elsewhere on the thread but definitely Iguazu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides.

Agreed 100%. It's a very different experience on each side. I'd recommend doing Brazil first then Argentina - see it first, then get right up close.

We did a helicopter flight over the falls which was spectacular. Did the same in Rio around Christ the redeemer too.

Not done Colombia but it's on the list

Did 3 weeks from Lima to La Paz and back. So Lake Titicaca and Inca Trail. Was class

Also done bits of Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay
Anything you think I should know? Getting around, staying safe, etc?

Anything you think I should know?
BA is one of the greatest cities ever
Iguazu is a must
São Paulo can fuck off
Uruguayan meat is the best thing ever
Lake Titicaca and the island tours is a brilliant brilliant day
If you do the Inca Trail you need 2 days in Cusco due to the height, it's fun anyway. If you fly in then maybe even longer.
I'm a bit meh about Rio but can see it's fun
La Paz is just mental
