Not when we are apparently losing money hosting the gigs.

Alot of people have said this yet no one has explained how this is and if that is so why has it been going on for 5 or more summers? And if it is true how come clubs at all levels of the football pyramid hold concerts in the summer, from Springsteen at the eithad, Beyonce at the SOL, Will Young at Tranmere, Rod Stewart or Elton John done a gig at Blackpools ground in the summer. I have been to the concerts and they have been packed. It is good for the city and the region to have the likes that have performed at the stadium the last couple of years.

How the fuck do you lose money on a sold out Beyoncé concert?

Because, the promoter (SJM) will pay the artist 80% of profit after costs, said promoter will ramp costs up to make a few quid. The venue will receive a nominal hire fee for hosting and will get the profit from refreshments only, whilst still having to pay bills and their own staff (and probably the Police).

So an ingenious profit making scheme then, really. Would have had more luck replying to emails from Nigerian princes.

But this cant just be sunderland. Man City had ACDC, coldplay, Springsteen and the stone roses for a week and they must be making money?

give over.

But they wouldnt do it if it was going to lose them money is the point i am making.

As I say, very few local promoters or venues make money these days. I dont know what the crack is with Man City (I dont with Sunderland but have worked with who they deal with) but Im sure they could write it off as tax loss
