A19



Have pretty much stopped using it to get to work or back, the amount of accidents or back ups is ridiculous. You just know when setting off, "oh, a drop of rain. That'll be a 3 car smash" then drive past the seaton sliproad and see it's gridlocked.

Used to have the same when I drove from Newcastle to East Durham every morning. I'd meet the same bloke at the easington roundabout most days.

Felling bypass is the same. I see the same cars flying around the roundabout after the tyne bridge in the wrong lane every morning.

It's a real bug bear of mine

As someone who uses this every day from Sunderland to Boro I wouldn't have a problem at all with that. So many accidents.

Absolutely detest the road and it's got even worse. The traffic at Wolviston junction is now backing up past elwick regularly on a morning now. Taking me an hour to do 28 miles. Hate it.

Barely anyone uses roundabouts properly. although nowt is close to seeing some fucker driving towards me in the outside lane on christmas eve in belting down snow and blizzard conditions. i had to ask our lass if it really happened cos it seemed too shit your pants crazy to be real . was just after penshaw turn off southbound aswell.
 
I was at that incident, I can confirm there was no injuries (christ knows how)

Top tip if your car claps out on a fast Road get out as soon as possible and get over the barriers. Don't fuck about trying to fix it or stay in cos it's raining or cold. 2 people are going to have a merry Christmas because they did just that.

Happy coincidence, as I usually fly past this bloke giving him a lesson in driving then he somehow catches me on bridge street.

Full of drivers who drive cars that are unable to change lanes unless there turnoff is with the next mile. Therein lies most the problem on the road.
 
What's happened on it this northbound around the A690 roundabout ?!? Got on Southbiund there just after 8 n it's queuing all the way back to basically Peterlee n there was an ambulance heading up ...

Not sure, I joined at the A690 roundabout going south. Traffic was backed up on the road joining but A19 going South was fine. Northbound was backed right up, thinking maybe it was something further north maybe?
 
about time they put average speed. I drive that road castle eden to boro on a workday morning and you get some right knackers on it. only on Friday there was a 6 car smash at haverton hill which closed the a19 northbound for several hours at about 4pm. even this morning it was dark foggy and you have folk driving up your arse, weaving in and out of lanes despite the traffic doing about 30-40 due to the heavy congestion.
