I think you're understating the influence McClaren had on those players' fate.

We will need to buy players in the Summer, obviously, and I hope we buy a couple of player capable of performing in the Premier LEague in January to be honest. But there's a line on RTG that Newcastle will need a squad overhaul if we're to survive. That wasn't the case last time and we were a worse team then than we are now, and we have a better manager now than we did then.

We'll need to sign a few players, but so do most clubs, most seasons. We've money in the bank from this summer's window and if Benitez says Ashley needs to dip into a reserve then I'm confident that he'll do it.

He won't need to spend hundreds of millions to make us a Premier League team capable of survival
.
He spent £80m and took you down. Your squad is poorer now that it was when we relegated you. You'll need a whole new starting XI in the summer if you get promoted.

Hes a quality manager with a proven track record of doing well.

He took over the club at a very low point after the back to back ineptitude of Pardew, Carver and McClaren, the damage was done before he arrived and it took longer than the short time we had but changes were happening, hence the 6 game unbeaten run in the final 6 games of the season, sometimes it just doesn't work out in football, and this was one of those times, It's pretty typical on here to says its all his fault though of course the manager has to be accountable in some way, but in this instance I'd say he did his best but was brought in just a little too late.

We've got a good squad and hes doing well, funny though how now its a poor league when before we started the season we had the same people saying "he has no championship experience" and "its a tough league to get out of".

Yes its the championship but we are rebuilding under a manager with a proven track record of success, with a great coaching team. Most importantly has managed to bring together the fans with the club once again and has absolutely everyone pulling in the same direction, even Ashley & Charnley it seems for the moment are on board and are believed to be ready to spend some good money should we come back up, Rafa would not have signed the deal otherwise.

At the end of the day its Mike Ashley, things could still go tits up, but we've got the best manager we've had since Robson and things are looking up, I'd wager Rafa will have us doing well next season, should we achieve promotion, which is looking close to nailed on at the moment.

He's given you about £140m to spend in 12 months, whilst having you turn a profit. Benitez received a King's ransom to fail at the end of the season. I think you've got your admiration the wrong way round.

That told me that even of they finished bottom of the prem next season Rafa would be a "legend" there.

My point was he took them down so failed last year and that he's been gifted every chance to Coast it this year so his real test comes next year and onwards. He disagreed saying he's done wonders to get them into a profit this year and that (I shit you not) " you wouldn't understand" how the relationship is between Rafa and the fans and that he understands what it means to be gaffer there.

So it begs the question, how do you judge his tenure from when he took over?
Obviously Rafa is the labrador leading the blind.

We were the worst side in top flight history, at that point. The last 2 games have helped massively.
It would have all been Mike Ashley's fault, if you'd found yourselves in that situation, however.

Most agreed it was Shorts fault at this stage.Whats changed? won a couple?

But the vast majority of your squad have been relegated from the PL. Buying players from the likes of Villa and Blackburn whilst retaining the core of the squad that took you down isn't going to serve you well if you do get promoted. You were one of the worst teams in the league last season, winning a few games at a lower level won't change that.

No we were the worst managed team up to the point that Rafa arrived, some of the players were good enough, we had no togetherness, no plan, nothing.Bad eggs who had egos. The likes of Mitro, Perez, etc have a huge amount to prove not only to me but to he club, Rafa sees that and starts them sparingly instead of letting them waltz into the team, a big difference to Mclaren and co, we all know we need to top up the squad and we will buy Rafa knows that survival is the next aim, if he gets us up.

Rafa spent nothing

So he manipulated Steve McClaren into spending huge amounts of money (across 2 transfer windows) 9 months before he even took the job, then he was chiefly responsible for taking us down at the same time as Sunderland were solely responsible for sending us down.

Now, he's assembled an expensive squad who are so good that any mug could get them promoted, but none of those players are good enough to play in the league above.

Okey dokey

You could say that about all sides that come up from the Championship, usually you add to the squad and hope you can cling on, then if you do you try and build on it until we are stable, then you dare to kick on maybe get mid table, build and hope to get in to Europe.

Or you could just play for 17th every year.

You played for 17th last year and couldn't manage it.

True, theres was a club more experienced in winning 17th, a club that lights up monuments in honour of the achievement, whose supporters spend hundreds on planes and travel accross the city to hang banners on a bridge to celebrate.

All of that was done after we knew we had survived and sent you down.
Unlike you idiots with your relegation parties etc you plan for us and then end up starring in them yourselves.
f***ing fools. :lol::lol:

Fishy, it is possible to be too good for the pub league and not good enough for the big boys league, you know.

Barcode adorned idiots, everywhere.
