Didn't Jesse Owen praise the Germans for making him feel welcome, before having to ride in the service elevator to a dinner held in his name in the U.S. as he was not allowed to use normal lifts due to his skin colour

Aye something like that, Roosevelt didn't invite Owens to the Whitehorse when he got back. They all go on about Hitler snubbing Jesse Owens but he didn't greet anyone from that day of competition anyways.

had that been colourised?
I think so aye, unless me mind's playing tricks.

EDIT: Perhaps it is... A year earlier, Leifer was one of the only two photographers with color film in his camera[3] when Ali knocked outSonny Liston in Lewiston, Maine, and his image of the moment has become not just one of his most famous photos, but one of the most memorable sports photos of all time - seen by many as the greatest sports photograph in history.[4]

I love that sort of stuff, like unknown gems

Wasn't it something about not being allowed the normal entrance? He had to enter through the kitchen door because blacks weren't allowed through the main reception

Gets a bad press does Adolf.
 He blamed the media for favouring the opposition but the public still wanted him in......
