Does anyone know much about a Canadian singer-songwriter called Andy Shauf?
I noticed that Laura Veirs has posted a couple of things about him on her Social Media accounts and he supported Case/Lang/Veirs on their North American tour.
I've downloaded his current album (The Party) and I'm quite impressed so far (although I'm only on track 5). He has quite an unusual/unconventional voice (it's a bit like Ben Kweller's) and he seems to do indie-pop stuff with folk and soul influences. Full verdict to follow.

Yeah someone recommended his last album on here, was enjoyable enough. Drink my rivers was a great song.

Nothing has really caught my eye but will probably listen to 2 or 3. Carl from My Morning Jacket releases another solo album, and AJJ (formerly the Andrew Jackson Jihad) release their first album since the official name change (if you like folk influenced American punk), but that's about it. Oh and Soilwork but I'm guessing they definitely won't appeal.

I'll be completely honest and say that I've heard 2 songs by AJJ (both from their debut album about 9 or 10 years ago)before today and only put the album on my phone due to a combination of lack of releases and Wikipedia claiming they are a folk-punk band.
This album has completely surprised me this morning. A brilliant indie-rock album, very little folk and even fewer punk influences to be seen. Might become a favourite of mine!

Jambinai "A Hermitage" - they're Korean and they're sort of art house, post rock, weird folk. Very entertaining!
Russian Circles "Guidance" - think this is their sixth album but first I've heard. It got a 5 star review from the Guardian. They lie somewhere on the rockier end of post rock. An album that's easy to admire but difficult to love.
The new Uncut cover CD - it's a revisit to their occasional Sounds of the New West series in which they pick out some of their favourite Americana acts of the day. Features some tracks I've already got (Karl Blau, Margo Price, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson), tracks fro upcoming albums I'd be listening to anyway (Drive By Truckers, Hiss Golden Messenger, Shovels & Rope) and some top quality rarities (Doug Paisley ft Bonnie Prince Billie, Hurray For The Riffraff, The Deslondes, Frazey Ford, William Tyler, all tracks from 7" or 12" singles or, in one case, something originally available to crowdfunding subscribers) plus three new to me singer songwriters (Courtney Marie Andrews, Nathan Bowles, Joan Shelley) who are all worthy of further listening.
Ezra Furman "Big Fugitive Life" - 6 track EP. Ezra being Ezra. Looking forward to seeing him again at End of the Road!
Thalia Zedek Band "Eve" - I've sort of been aware of Thalia Zedek previously but never really listened. She was in a critically acclaimed band called Come in the 90s and has been in various other bands. US indie rock, clrearly influenced by Patti Smith, rather good!
The Moles "Tonight's Music" - why have I never listened to the Moles before? They're Like Guided By Voices with a quality filter.
Lydia Loveless "Real" - mundane countryish alt-rock on first listen. She's "hotly tipped" so I hope it's a grower.
Health & Beauty "No Scare" - initially reminds me a bit of Dirty Projectors but a bit more guitar based and bimbles along pleasantly. Then "Im Yr Baby (For Aaron Swartz)" happens as the second to last track and you're listening to one of the songs of the year. 8 minutes plus of genius!
Ryley Walker "Golden Sings That Have Been Sung" - it's good just not sure it's as good as "Primrose Green", which was one of the albums of 2015.

Years since I've seen Grandaddy. Have seen Jason Lyttle solo a couple of times, which was good but not quite the same.
I know man. I'm the only fucker stupid enough to pay the black market price, so I'm sat here on my own with some beers waiting for them to come on. It's gonna be a sauna
