Two spins of the Wild Beasts album now. Would give it a 6/10. Alpha Female is without a doubt the worst song they've ever made. It's rank average and I'm a bit gutted. Some good songs in there but too much filler and a couple of real stinkers.

I'm halfway through now, it's deeply average^ Just literally put the album on 30 seconds ago, was looking forward to it as well
Listened to Ulrika Spacek for the first time earlier after seeing them mentioned in here ages ago, tempted to go see them in November.

Haven't listened to them yet but heard they played a brilliant set at GlastonburyAs an aside, did anyone expect Christine and the Queens to become one of the bands of the year?
Every time I see them I am surprised by how good they are. I felt Mimi held them together as Alan's playing/singing was often wayward and different to the recordings (not always a bad thing), setting this one apart previous Low gigs I've seen over the last 15 years.Anybody else see Low last night at sage2 ? Absolutely superb in what has to best live music space in the country.

Ones and Sixes contains some great Low songs and this gig reaffirmed that, although Lazy from I Could Live In Hope was probably the highlight of my night. My first time and thought it was great. Couldn't get over how good mimis voice was live, especially on into you from ones and sixes.
Opening with Gentle was sublime. I was hooked in straight away.

I'll join in with the Wild Beasts' new album is a bit dull parade after giving it the once over. Dinosaur Jr album sounds like DInosaur Jr post-reformation.
As an aside, it appears that the Maccapaccacaccabees have split up.
